Great mesh system for the price but the only downside is they can't be seperated too far apart otherwise the speed is abysmal and will likely cause drop-outs. Clearly not an ATL but I double we'll see those crazy prices again.

"only downside is they can't be seperated too far apart"

Isnt it the point of having a wifi mesh!

      Everything has its limit

      • Yep, you get what you pay for. I also own the Orbi RBK852S and it Trump's this for speed and range. As you would expect, that was more expensive. Why would I use this then? I'm kinda vibing the Google ecosystem right now. I'm entertaining the idea of purchasing the TP-Link XE75 Pro 2-pack for $399 but a little hesitant. Not sure what to do.

Have a look at Mercusys. I have 4 of their Halo H50g nodes running for a couple of years now (long house shape), and get great performance over wifi and wired backhaul. Can get a 3-pack for cheap cheap (~$110) from Amazon right now, or the newer H70x for like $160 for a 3pack. Super stable, and their app works well for monitoring and config.

  • How far is too far for these?
I currently have TP Link Deco and have 1 at GF, 1 at 1st Floor and 1 in Alfresco and never faced any such issues.

I have one in a seperate building about 80m from the house and it still picks it up. Saved me running a wireless bridge or cable

      • Are you referring to Deco or these Google ones?

      • Which unit/models are you running? I need to run wifi to a granny flat soon

    • How is your Tp Link Deco ? Is it good for internet more than 100Mbps ?

      • Yes. I am using Deco X60 for the last 3 years on NBN plans higher than 100Mbps. Never had any issues despite having significant loan of 2 PlayStations running simultaneously along with other usual TV and Mobile devices streaming etc.

  • Whats the catch with ABN ?
I do have one , but this mesh is not related to my buisness?
    Can i still get it?
    Cheers
    DT

ABN is needed to sign up, having shopping privilege doesn't mean everything you buy needs to be for business.

If you claim it on business then you only need to answer to ATO, Amazon will sell anything to you.

  • Does anyone else see the thumbnail for "Math's Debater" and go What the…..?

Looks like sausage in hand lol

The standard Google Nest (so I presume these would be the same) doesn't allow you to split the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz SSID's, so some robot vacuums fail to connect to these routers.
I legit have one of the GL-iNet Slate 2's running simply as an IOT 2.4Ghz band for the devices that don't properly negotiate with Google Nest Mesh.

Oh and they don't let you chose what channel you want to use, and hilariously my Nest mesh has chosen a 5Ghz channel higher than the Google Chomecast recognises.
Therefor my Google Chromecast won't connect to the 5Ghz Google Mesh network and instead buffers streaming every time we use the microwave… FML lol.

TLDR - Avoid Google networking hardware if you want control of your network settings.

    • Anyone have experience if these 6E Pro models do
Band Steering better now? Unfortunately I have a lot of devices around the house that use 2.4ghz. I’m using an ancient mesh system (from the UK) and it’s dual band with band steering but it’s been very stable (but slow). Seems odd that Google’s version is so rubbish at it.

      • From my Google searches it seems it's the same with the Pro models too, forced band steering and forced joined 2.4 & 5… unfortunately the "Pro" in the name doesn't stand for Professional and instead whatever Google defines it as.

Thanks - I've reached the same conclusion from my searches too. Still don't quite understand why Google's is so problematic yet so many others use band steering and its fine. A few posts from people having issues with Nest Pro and Sonos (which I have) so seems like its not worth the gamble. Shame - good price.

        • I think it stands for Proctalgia.

  • how come i cant see 218, showing 312 for me?

    • That same for me

    • It's that first order bonus ($100 off your first order) you get if you sign up to Amazon business - you need an ABN

      • Is there minimum purchase to use $100 bonus ?

    • "I request you to please wait to please wait till 2 working days from account activation date. After 48 hours when you will place order, it will be applied at checkout."

  • Will Tenda MW6 AX1200 or Tp link Deco AC1200 better or worse ?

  • This or Deco X50/X55? Any other suggestions in this budget? Wifi 6 vs 6E. Want to move from single modem.

    • Deco, unless you really need 6E (who does?)

Can only use AP mode with one node.
There's not much that's 'pro' about these things.

  • I signed up today for an amazon business account just for this deal, as I need to upgrade the home wifi and have invested a lot in nest equipment around the house. Got the confirmation codes and emails this evening, thought id check in ozb comments to see if there's anything i missed… oohh wee, i saw some comments about dropping networks, that I just chalked upto user potentially noisy errors, but the lack of network separation and also no web interface. I couldn't justify it. Even at this price :'(

I've been leaning towards the TP-Link Deco BE11000 but hard to justify the price.
