Similar to the Woolworths and Amazon deal from last week. Today’s Coles 50-10 promo would be a great opportunity to take advantage of.

If it’s good how come you’re giving up on it?
Just trying to be a bit healthier (trying to eat only fresh food and vegies), and reduce salt intake.
People in Japan and Hong Kong eat instant noodles more often than others, but they still live longer, guess it really depends on how you eat them.
@IcySpicyStew: Where I grew up, it was the poor who ate fresh noodles, only the rich ate instant ramen.
@jimojr: This one is made Indonesia which is different to the ones made in japan
made in japan ones do not have english packaging
@IcySpicyStew: They're about the same.
If you want healthy, you eat soba noodles. Udon is a middle ground.
@Wonderfool: I still dream of the fresh soba noodles I would buy every day when was in Japan. The best.
@IcySpicyStew: To a Japanese, they would go down to the convenient store 3 minutes down the road and buy full microwavable meals that matches B grade restaurants in Australia for 400 yen, full of fried stuff, while scoffing down 4 beers and a cigarette. Instant ramen is the least of their worries lol.
Why not just use 1/2 or 1/3 of the provided seasonings?
@Mild October: its more about the lack of nutrients they do not contain
so adding fresh eggs, meat and vegetables as topping is a better option
shredded chicken, seaweed, half boiled egg and you got a half descent meal.
Eating 2 packets away with a splash off soy and you might be in trouble.
A descent into poor health hell?
Same deal / price on the other two varieties as well, can mix and match.
Does anyone know if this is online only?
No, I just got them in store and it’s labelled as 2 for $8.50. Another flavour was also the same deal, bonito I think it was.
Thanks OP! I just bought two Miso (my favourite) and two Tokyo Shoyo to try for the first time.
@Kanari - in store as long as multiples of two.report back… black one is better
I tried all 3 flavours in the recent deals this one was my favourite followed by tokyo then the miso one
There are still some Tokyo Shoyu on sale at amazon. Tonkotsu flavor also pretty cheap. I was going to order them, because I quite like the tonkotsu one, but then changed my mind due to the low quality processed palm oil, and huge amounts of saturated fat. I know when you're in your 20s or 30s you tend not to care much about this, but it pays to be more health conscious as you get older to avoid cardiovascular disease. Switch from full-cream milk to light milk. Cut out butter. Avoid eating heaps of low-quality biscuits, chips, cake, instant noodles etc. Saturated fat is the real problem.
The reality is, Japanese don't really eat these noddles. I have not once seen a Japanese person eat Nissin noodles despite many, many trips to Japan. I have occasionally seen them eat instant noodles, but compared to the amount of fresh noodles they eat, it's very rare. When cooking at home, they overwhelmingly use fresh or dried (oil-free) noodles. While real ramen broth is quite oily, I don't think they use palm oil. If you want to make a nice miso-flavored noodles without too much oil, you can just make some miso soup from paste (takes 2-5 mins), and add oil-free noodles like rice noodles or dried soba/udon/somen, or fresh noodles. Almost as quick as instant noodles and can taste better. Try adding any of these: onion, egg, seaweed, tofu, eggplant, bok choi, cabbage, kimchi, etc.
Air dried noodles + freeze dried soup is fairly popular in Japan. The ingredients are significantly less nasty. Big fan of it myself. Eg Marutai etc. You can get similar at asian supermarkets and online here.
In reality a lot of Japanese home cooking is incredibly healthy. Restaurant food is heavy/unhealthy to offer a different experience.
Ramen in particular definitely isn't seen as healthy lol.
Most times these instant ramen are not direct import from japan.
This one is made Indonesia which is different to the ones made in japan
made in japan packaging does not have english packagingin japan there are many ramen shops that use proper broth and fresh noodles.
instant is more for snacks, not meals.you have to go to a japanese store to get the made in japan not coles or woolies
Does anyone know expiry on these? Also, do these come with "wet" sauce packet seasoning or all powdered/dried packets?
both wet and dry
My favorite is Demae Iccho seafood flavor. It comes with only a packet of dry seasoning, which makes me feel more at ease when eating it.
The packet i got says September
Same, all mid September expiries.
Shame that it's made in Indonesia and not Japan. The Japanese version is miles better.
Once you buy two, any subsequent ones are just scanned as 4.25. So you don't necessarily need to buy in multiples of two.
can you walk in and get this deal or online only?
this deal is available on the shelves at my Coles, but OOS
Thanks for answering
Damn this stuff is good … but I've given up this kind of food for a bit!
