Another new AMEX statement credit offer for Special Gift Cards! Expires 29/7, can be offered by various other companies.

Grab a nice 10% saving on gift cards (up to $20, one time only) …..which may only sit around the 3-5% mark on other platforms. I usually get the Explorer/Outdoors card and use it at Ampol via Google Wallet.

            @rith: Ahh .I am using a Gmail '+special'' alias.

            Would never have worked that out…even rang Amex and they clarified it isn't being blocked from their end.

            Getting over businesses not supporting the Gmail filters. Great for knowing who on sells your data.

              @tunzafun001: I ended up retrying with my actual email (what can I say, it’s $20) and the same card and no issues. Pretty annoying though.

                @smyl: Indeed. I had to figure that one out on my own - their support just shrugs are more than willing to lose a customer than attempt to try and resolve the issue.

                  @rith: I finally got the payment to go through but only after changing to a non-gmail email; and then switching from the Supermarket Slayer to a Woolworths $200 card.

                  Now the next bit of fun is trying to access the card via their app, which ALSO requires an account.

                      @tunzafun001: I used the desktop to buy the card and can see it in my account, but to move it to google wallet you need to download and login to the SPECIAL app.

                      Unfortunately the app keeps on saying my password is incorrect, for the second consecutive day….

                        @VladImpaler: What happens when you manually add it as a new payment card to Google Wallet, using the card details you can see on the Special website? That has worked for me in the past.

                              @tunzafun001: Yep, manual copy/paste into Google Wallet as a payment card, NOT a gift card (tried that but it required a PIN which the Special card details didn’t provide.

        My error message is "your card doesn't support this type of purchase (our apologies, please try agsin later)". I haven't made any purchase at special.com.au since 2022. And I am trying to buy Tech Head card so that I can pay AGL which is die next week.

        Anyone received the same error message when payment was declined?

          Mine has changed to SPECIAL.GIFT LANE COVE too with no cash back yet, but did you get an email with subject 'You just used your Special Gifts Card Amex Offer'? I received that shortly after purchasing confirming I used the offer.

          The email says can take up to 90 days after the offer ends for cash back to come through but I've done these offers a few times now and normally it's pretty fast, no more than 2 weeks from memory.

          I would not be worried about that.

          When I bought my Special gift card near the end of the last AMEX offer, the purchase showed up as SPECIAL.GIFT LANE COVE on my statement, and I received the statement credit a couple of days later (and that showed up as KARTA PD STRIPE on my statement).

    Is anyone else having trouble logging into the app? I keep getting login error invalid email or password. changed password and can log in on the website without issues, but the app not working.
