EDR Origin Electricity Account Price Increase

Signed up with EDR origin offer for electricity in SA through the everyday rewards app and the rates were pretty good. That was 3 weeks ago.

Today I get a letter that says:

Solar FIT going DOWN from 4c to 2c
Shoulder going up from 23.15 to 25c
Peak going up from 47.4c to 50.7c
Off peak going up from 27.7 to 29.9c
Daily supply going up from 91.3c to 98.6c

Has anyone noticed any decent Electricity deals at the moment?

Are these price increases excessive or standard with what to expect across the industry?

Cheers.

  • You are not the only one, this is the second thread of the day!

Unfortunately FIT is going down overall.

Your increase is about 8% so you just need compare other increases within your Grid Provider and see if it is on par.

    • Your increase is about 8%

      Albo inflation?

  • +4

AFAIK just about all electricity providers put their rates up around this time of year, so make sure you are comparing updated rates if you have another look.

Usually if it was the cheapest before it will likely still be the cheapest.

  • I just love the fact that no companies publish their new rates until after the fact which makes comparing if its worth jumping to someone else for another welcome offer is worth it or not.

The only way is to constantly churn. :)

    • I agree, although I can't seem to find any good sign up offers at the moment and I've churned through all the main ones… Ovo, AGL, energy Australia, origin, powershop and engie. Have I missed any?

      • Don't think so. Ill just wait until July 2 then shop around. :)

  • Yep I got a letter too
I'm with red energy. It's a lot more drastic than yours, I'll tell you that.
    Supply $0.91 to $1.34
    Unit price $0.3 to $0.334
    Demand $0.178 to $0.193
Solar from 5c down to 4c

    • Thats a huge jump in daily supply charge! madness.
