IKEA 365+ Container Lids Leak in The Dishwasher

Has anyone recently bought the plastic lids for Ikea 365+ glass containers and been using them in the dishwasher? What has your experience been like?

I am very sad, I bought a heap of them and find that when I put them in the dishwasher, they fill with water behind the silicone seal…. It is a pain to remove the seal and wash them individually for each one. Previously the ones I had were fine to just put in as one unit, same with my Kmart ones.

Am I doing something wrong?

  • What do you mean by 'using them in the dishwasher'? For what?

To cook your food duh? You can save energy by putting your meal in with your dishes. No need for the microwave!

No for real though I mean to wash them

      • OK, but in use do they do what they are supposed, as in not leak?

        • I havent tried yet. My issue is that when you put them in to wash they get dishwasher water all up in the seal. You have to take them apart to dry them. Its fine if you use one or two but we use about 4 per day. Dishwasher load has a lot inside

No, I think it is the product. I have also had this happen when hand washing them in a sink full of water. Although not much water does get behind the seal. I now just don't submerge them for more than a few seconds and it seems to be less of an issue.

    • Thank you for the info. Shame :( I really like the containers and they are cheaper than kmart

  • Yeah I've recently bought 10 of them from IKEA for the first time and I can confirm that water gets behind the seal on all the lids, regardless of whether I hand wash them or put them in the dishwasher. The silicon seal isn't very tight though, it's easy to remove and put back on, so it doesn't surprise me that water is able to get behind there.

    • Thank you - appreciate the info. Good to know, its a shame they have changed the design to be like this

I've made a habit of taking out the rubber seals as I put the lid into the dishwasher, and putting the seals in seperately. Once the dishwasher finishes I leave them out to dry, and then pop them back together. Otherwise water gets caught behind like you're experiencing - no easy way around it unfortunately.

i take off the rubber seals.

    You can't wash them together.

Just what you have to do
