TV recommendation under $1500

Hello,

Im in the market for a new TV and both of the following options seem to meet all my requirements:

Samsung 65" QN70F NEO QLED (Appliance Central $1,285):

TCL 65" C7K Premium QD Mini LED (Appliance Central $1,455):

On paper, there are small differences like the speakers but im having a hard time understanding if TCL is actually a better product or not.

Im shopping in the under $1500 segment. If there are better choices with high refresh rate, i would love to hear about them too.
Thanks in advance!

I cant wait 20 years for this one though.

  • Mini-LED > QLED.

In general, when you are shopping in the budget - mid range, buying premium brands isn't a great idea. Buying high-end TVs is where Samsung > TCL.

    • All these terms are confusing. Thanks for the explanation.

  • Few mainstream TVs have a 3 year warranty…. TCL does.
I know it shouldn't matter because of australian consumer protection laws, but the hard reality is that it does. If you have a dispute, you have to personally take them to small claims court if they don't do the right thing.

    • Thats a good point. I dont know how much time id want to waste in small claims court. A long warranty out of the gate is nice.

      • Until about 10 years ago I'd buy samsung TVs… until my drama with them shortly after the 1 year warranty expired.
Being a big name means nothing. I believe they acted like amoral cheats that shouldn't be in business.
I'm pleased to say that I've purchased more than 6 significant TCL devices and appliances since then, each with a 3 year warranty, without a single hiccup.
The TCL front load washing machine I just bought is doing great for a little over $400 (I do like hunting bargains).
My latest TCL tv purchase was $1398 for an 85" 85C655 after buying and using 5% off gift cards. Might not be the cutting edge video, but I reckon it's great.
Whatever you get, remember that prices cycles can vary remarkably…. if you settle on a model and have a couple of months ozbargain is your friend.

  • In the market for a similar TV and sadly, just missed out on the extra 15% (+ possibly up to another 15%) off from JB over the weekend.

Manged to get TGG to price match appliance central and then add the JB 15% offer ontop.

Total came to $1288 for the TCL 65" C7K Premium QD Mini LED.
