This is an excellent machine for a beginner but if you know that you won't use it much after I would get the mini 2 as is way cheaper and still has a good recording quality. You won't have as many sensors to avoid trouble and you will need to connect your phone to the controller to operate the drone tho.
I would get a mini 2 fly more second hand, do my holiday, and if the interest for the hobby clicked in buy the 4 with the rc2 combo.
In any case remember to pay for the extra yearly insurance so you don't cry later if you hit a tree or drop it in water.. you also need some filters for the light.
Add a couple hundred for both on top of the drone/controller.
It's very fun, potential very deep rabbit hole ahead lol.

@RR7J: Weirdly, Neo. Just so damn fun. It's the crappiest of the 3 but maybe a bad analogy is like if you have a Ranger, a Tesla and a little motorcycle scooter - you'll take the scooter around that beach drive more than your other higher cost vehicles. Cheap, tiny, even knowing that if someone goes wrong it'll have the least impact probably has something to do with it. But for me it's all about Goggles 3 and Motion Controller. Being there, real-time drone POV is ultra cool. It's not unusual for me to just skirt the tiles on my roof and drop from front yard to backyard. The 3 are all so different though. It would be hard to part with any of them. Especially in the context of international travel, though I do that very rarely these days. But I have a place in the Philippines, a flight booked for December so excited to go over there with my family, both my human and drone family..🤣

Only downside of drones is ensuring you fly them lawfully, especially in Victoria.
In Victoria it is unlawful to launch and recover a drone from any land managed by parks Victoria. Managed by parks Victoria includes the obvious like National parks but also much less obvious like State parks and similar.
Even some of the "Can I fly here" apps give incorrect information stating that you can fly a Drone in some parks Victoria managed state parks.

It might if you choose DJI because they can disable the machine from flying if in an area they don't approve of. Its what stops me from buying from them.
They wont disable it if you fly around government secret buildings. Cos they want to store the videos and gps coordinates on their server 🤣

Just charged and set up my neo with googles, done a test fly which is harder than it looks. Its not very sensitive for controlling. Possible because of the dawn. I'll try it again during the day.
This deal tho is quite good for those needs one. Don't think the price will be less soon unless another competitor knocks it down. Kogan stops their 10% extra. Looks like I can wait for the Plus Combo.
Drones for fun doesn't exist. It's a big lie. I have one DJI, bought many years ago. It's a pain to find places that you can run it with ease of mind. Too many rules to comply with, retailers won't even mention at the time of purchasing, and you get aware of them only after dumping lots of money on these drones.
Yeh finding a place to fly it lawfully is hard. But understandable.
Was hoping to get one for NZ trip, but itll be the same for the places im visiting.
