Don't forget the weekend sale starts at approx 6pm tonight.

    • +1

come on @StarBuy give the public another ripper price on ssc813p lol

    • any idea if the weekend sale will change the price here - or just for other non sale products?

      • +2

i cant say for every week on record, but for the years ive been following, typically the daily special is not re-included in the weeknd special offerings .

  • Any reasonably priced eco drives with chrono and perpetual calendar?

    • Still no, Nige. Unless you can do without the stopwatch function.
      And like the colour brown.
      And think $399 is "reasonable".
      https://www.watchdepot.com.au/products/citizen-eco-drive-bl8…

      • Cheers. That's pretty nice actually!
Think I'd prefer the perpetual calendar over chrono if I had to choose…

        • It's nicely laid out, certainly has a distinctive look.
Also shares 2 of 3 key features of the Citizen I'm wearing, those being Eco-drive and sapphire crystal.

glows in the dark so the neighbours can see what your doing with the wife.

      *you're

      I didn't neg you btw.

puts on sd1970, lights up whole neighbourhood with the lume

Cheers @WatchNerd another ED added to the collection.

    • +3

No worries, this one will look good on you.

Unless they've shifted manufacturing in the last two decades, these Eco-Drives are low key immortal. I have one from 1996 (titanium case) that had never been serviced and is still working perfectly.

  • Is the bezel frame 'twistable / turnable'?

    • +1

Most likely no, because the bezel is for heart beat (bpm) calculations and needs to be somewhat accurate

  • Citizen experts what’s your thought on the NA1010-84X? Looks like a decent discount for a series 8?

  • What's the sign up bonus? How do I get it?
I signed up for an account, but didn't get any sort of code or anything - and no discount at check out

    • Clear cache load website again you get a pop up

      • Got the pop up but can't figure out how to get the discount code. Pop said it would be emailed but 2 email addresses and 2 days later still nothing. Maybe because I was a customer many years ago?

  • I know there are smaller models, but Citizen has too many big chronos.

  • Trying to compare this with a Casio Edifice for $119…

Looks like the Edifice isn't solar but I am not really sure about other features?

    https://casioau.com/products/edifice-efv540d-1a-watch?varian…

    • +2

Not sure if there's any difference other than solar, how often do you use the chrono features anyway. Also I don't recall anyone ever saying they regretted spending the extra on an Eco-Drive (solar) over standard quartz.

      • +2

Agreed. Given a choice I'd buy only eco drives for the ultimate convenience, robustness, reliability , accuracy esp if you aren't a brand snob. Take care of them and they just last for a long time.

    • +1

Look mate if the Casio floats your boat I say get it and wear it in good health. If the budget is that much, that’s totally fine.

    • +1

Don't get those Casio ones. The calendar function is bullshit. I made a mistake in getting it.

      Note
x The day indicator setting uses a
      31-day month. Make adjustments for
      months of shorter lengths.

The eco drive CA0780-87X also has the same problem

      The date must be manually
      adjusted for months shorter
than 31-days. You will need to
adjust the date at the start of
      March, May, July, October and
      December.

      • are you talking digital? I have about 15 casio digitals and I've never had to change the date. If you're talking traditional watch face, then what you say is true of all quartz watches (non digital) as far as I know. Re mechanical display quartz; I have citizen, casio, seiko, a russian make and a couple of others - they all work on 31 day month. I imagine you'd have one huge ass watch with something like a motorcycle gearbox if it was capable of doing correct month / days.

        • The digital will always have correct dates.
I was referring to the traditional faces from that particular casio range; and that one Citizen model.

Citizen have a feature/category called Perpetual Calendar not locked to 31 day months.

          Have a read
          https://www.citizenwatches.com.au/collections/perpetual-cale…

Just wanna say though, it's not a new feature at all, and the various watches with it aren't large imo.

If you’re after a big, proper dive watch that’s a little different the Citizen BN0228-06W is only $399 before discounts. Ti case with hardness coating, 200m WR, Eco-Drive, strap extender, good lume…this one has serious dive creds.

    • Doubles as portable cover in event bombs start dropping

      • +1

Yeah, it’s pretty big, eh? Would def have a lot of ‘wrist presence’.
