Trakracer TR40S $329 (Expired, $449 RRP), TR80S $449 ($699 RRP) + Delivery @ Trak Racer

250

Trakracer has further reduced the sale price on the TR40S from 10% to around 26%. Understand bit of a niche but if you're after allumnium profile, this seems like an affordable one to get. Note that although the base is cheap, the add-ons add up quick (seat is not included).

Seems like really good prices. If only I still had the gear and the time.

  • Very well priced!

  • I bought the TR80S two months ago and I cant complain about it at all. It's a really good discount price.

    • May I ask, how was it to assemble? How's the overall stability? Which seat did you choose? Thanks

      • The assembly of the TR80S frame and monitor mount was quite straightforward, though it took me about 3-4 nights to complete due to family commitments.

For the seat, I chose the Rally seat. While it's not the most comfortable I've ever used, it offered the best cushioning among the TR seats I tried at their Melbourne showroom. Many on Reddit suggest looking for a passenger seat at a junkyard for cheaper and better experience, but I wasn't able to find any good options in my area, so I stuck with the full TR lineup.

One aspect I'm not keen on is the TR80S pedal mount. I've been trying to fine-tune it since May. Since I primarily do Rally and Trucking sim racing (rather than GT/F1), I prefer a more upright, road car-like seating position. I even considered getting the TR inverted pedal kit when it was on sale, but I didn't end up purchasing it. Ultimately, I decided not to use the included pedal mount and instead mounted my pedals flat on the aluminum frame, which works perfectly for me as I don't need to adjust the height or angle. This setup has significantly improved my sim racing experience.

Another minor issue I've encountered is with the new wheelbase mount plate. It protrudes from the aluminum profile, and I've unfortunately hit my knee on it a few times, which can be quite painful.

If you're willing to invest a bit more, I would suggest looking into the TR120S. Although it doesn't come with a pedal mounting plate for the base price, it offers three different pedal mount options with additional cost, including the inverted kit. The TR120S wheelbase mount also doesn't protrude like the TR80S.

If I were to rebuild my setup, I would definitely opt for the TR120S, especially if it goes on sale again during EOFY or Black Friday. At sale prices, it was quite comparable to what I paid for the TR80S.

Feel free to send me a DM if you'd like more information!

    *excludes everything

    :D

    • Yea it's pretty ridiculous, the eBay ones are $480 with everything but the seat. If it wasn't angled I would have gotten that one. The tr80s looks nicer over all though but I'm sure it all does the same thing.

      • Only the TR80S has 8040 profile aluminium. I don't think the eBay ones are anywhere near that strength…

  • I have a Logitech g923 and Logitech shifter - do I just need this or other items such as mounts to make it compatible with this frame.

Thank you, just trying to work out total cost

If I am reading the website correctly, this package includes an universal wheel mounting plate that can accommodate many wheelbase including G923.

For shifter I think you need to add the universal shifter mount. $39 The rig looks like only has an extension bar as a structure for shifter mount to be added.

    • Do yourself a favour and add the TR Gen 2 shifter mount with side chassis support..

Makes it much easier to position your shifter and add a handbrake down the line

    • $505 for the TR40S, fixed recline braclet, slider rail and the shifter mount with side support plus shipping. Plus a couple hundred more for a used car seat.

The gt pro for $529 or similar cheaper tunes would be more suitable if you have no intention of ever upgrading the g923. Scour market place for one, I'll need to dump mine there when the tr80s comes.

  • Very reasonably priced dust collectors.

    • Speak for yourself… it makes sim racing so much more immersive vs clamping a wheel to a desk

  • Don't buy a seat from Trak Racer..

While I feel their rigs a superb quality… Their seats are lacklustre

Have a look at the Next Level Racing ERS line of seats.

Better yet, get a second hand car seat of you're in need.

      • This is what I did last week, bought the TR80S and found a seat from a Polo GTI at the wreckers. Super comfy and comes with bonus heated seats for cold nights.

        • How'd you power it? Car battery?

        • I just bought the TR80s, how do you mount a regular car seat onto the rig?

          • +1

@Haoru: My wrecked seat came with the slide rails, just bolted directly on with M8 bolt to the 4040 profile. Only had to do one mod which is to angle grind the alignment key on the seat rail.

  • Thanks OP, bought a TR80s, its about $495.25 with shipping to Sydney. Now I shall wait for Black Friday to pick up the seat and accessories.

    • Checkout car seats from wreckers too, you can pickup good condition passenger seats from some of the more sporty cars for about $180. You might need to make up your own bracket/adapter though, but plywood should do.

  • Just checked again today and it looks like the price of the TR40S has dropped to $299.

  • Damn I missed it….if anyone sees this price for the TR80S again, please post a link! Thanks
