  • No 83 in c5 right?

    • +6

There is. But around 5.3k after 15% off with JB Hifi. IMO not really a good price

      • Then must have released this year, previously could find any info on 83 c models

        • +1

          There’s been 83” since C1

        • I have an 83 c3

      • +1

I got JB online chat to price beat the HN price of 5095 for the 83" C5. (HN 5999 with 15% off). JB offered me 5039. Couldn't apply the JB 15% perk to that, but could do the $10 perk. Down to 5029. I saw a comment somewhere about some Macquarie gift card thing, so I logged into my Macquarie bank and bought a 1500 JB gift card for 1440. Used it on the purchase. Delivery 59 (online chat wouldn't give me free delivery). 5088 total. But with the discounted gift card, 5028 out of pocket, delivered, for the 83" C5.

        • You had better luck than me! Jb would not match, said they don’t match HN codes or some BS. Well done!

          • +1

@Tjazz1234: There was a brief moment where the cart link I was sent had a 5850 price as they only beat the non-15% code HN price. and that DID allow the 15% JB code on top. But I got stupid/greedy and pointed out the HN 15% off, and got put in a worse net spot as they then wouldn't let me stack perks on the 15% beat. By then they'd checked with their manager, too, so no take backs sadly. Might be worth a shot with them without logging in and just ask them to match the HN sticker price? Keep all Perks talk out of the chat.

  • +5

    Crazy good price!

  • +2

I actually paid more for the C2 and that was on special.

  • Can the JB Hi-Fi discounted gift card from Macquarie be used in conjunction with this perks discount?

Re HDR issues G5 vs C5
C5 might be fixed more later on.

    • +3

oof on that C5 input lag. My next TV will be a G something anyway, probably a 77" and the input lag on that G5 is amazing now

Still rocking a 7 year old 65" C8, which is still going strong and looks great, so it's hard to justify replacing it. Plus I am lazy

and the fact that LG keep releasing TVs with issues is a turn off as well

Damn, just saw I can get a 77" G5 for $5154 delivered. So tempting!

      • +1

Hey mate, I have a C8, awesome TV. I have a C4.. the new OS sucks. Like big time.

I also picked up a S90D samsung. as a 2 time LG OLED buyer, and gamer on them.. I have to say, the S90D has better picture. Bright as, so the HDR stuff looks incredible, and better, simple UI.

      • The last substantial upgrade to the C line was probably CX (the one after C9). The C9 added VRR / gsync, and the CX apparently significant improvements in pixel lifespan, C has been treading water since then. I think the marketing dept realised the C line was 'too good' relative to G series so they have had to hold it back, even slowing the whole thing down with shitty, buggy OS updates. With OLED, once you have those perfect blacks, 120hz gsync, negligible burn-in risk and at least 800 nits peak brightness, everything else is just icing on the cake. Hell, I actually don't mind the lower peak brightness of the C line with 50-100% highlight area - you still get most of the HDR perks without burning your retinas into oblivion.

      • Do it bro! I have a 77" G3 and it's the best tv I've ever owned, I can only imagine how good the G5 would be 🤤

      • Yup. 65 G5 same price

        • Deleted comment when I realised you said 65, thought you said 77 lol

    • Thanks for this valuable PSA. I would definitely not buy a C5 knowing it suffers from these issues.

  • +10

At that price I think my lipoma surgery can wait

    • Lol, priorities

    • I need one too, right at the top of the hamstring. It costs 3K??? Is that with private health insurance? Hope I don't have to delay my tv lol

      • +1

3k for me after Medicare rebates, yeah. No private insurance unfortunately

  • +1

HN have the 83C5 for $5,995 with 15% off. Purchased there. JB is $6,295 before the 15% Perks deal. Not as good deal on the 77, but really wanted the 83!

    • Can the 15% off be used with price matching?

      • Yes. Did it with 65 G5
        Was for Video pro though

        • Price matched video pro with JB HiFi? Can you do it all online? Do they quote first and you come back or you have to buy right away when it's matches. I need to transfer money but I wanna just get the quote or order in first…

    • +2

83 is nice to have but not good value for the extra screen area. 16.2% increase in screen area.. Add 16,2% to the price of the 77, nowhere near the actual price of the 83.

After perks price should be $3,944 for the 83 as it is 16,2% more than the 77 price. In fact you really should be paying less than 16.2% more.

      • +1

I spent $6500 on my 83" G4 last financial year. Yeah the extra inches come at a BIG premium. But i am super happy I paid up for it. The room and viewing distancd the TV is in definitely needed it.

If you can afford it. Spend up for the extra inches.

    • $5,720 delivered @ Appliance Central, not sure if HN or TGG will price match though

  • +5

An incredible price. Many people are going to regret not taking it.

    • did you buy one

      • Nup, I rarely bother buying anything new.

        • so I expect you're "going to regret not taking it" :)

  • JB would not price match HN online!

    • Online or in store?

    • Same price but?

      • I'm guessing they don't have a perks voucher. Harvey doing it without perks.

        • not that I'd prefer HN over JB, but HN doing a 15% off code too - no surprise

      • No HN cheaper, got the 83 C5 for $5,100. JB $5,300 for TV alone, no bundle.

  • I think I’m regretting buying the 65 G4 for $500 cheaper than the G5 counterpart two months ago.

    • +3

Why the regret. You bought an amazing TV and have been watching it for the past two months.

    • +1

These TV generational upgrades always come in super fast once you have committed to buying a new TV.

I spent big and got a 83" G4. Yeah the G5 is better. But that was always going to happen.

So long as you got the best deal you could at the time. Your winning. Enjoy the great TV.

  • Ordered one didn’t want to miss out!

  • +1

Crazy price, i wish I can justify this to missus replacing the C3.

    Or else. Zzzz

    • Im sure you can sell it on marketplace

  • +3

Far out this is better than runout pricing for the previous year’s model.

    • Yep, I got the previous model 77 in runout and paid quite a bit more than this. This price is ridiculous. I doubt we will see it this low even next year in runout.. Bit miffed to be honest .

      • Rumour is OLEDs coming down now, should be cheaper again on runout

  • $500 off with soundbar combo too. How many egift cards does JB accept per transaction? I might have to use 12.

    • +1

It’s unlimited in store. I think online was previously limited to 2 or something like that.

    • +1

The sound bar and perks didn't stack for me.

      • It stacked for me. It took off $500 from the TV and then applied the 15% discount on the balance for the TV.

      • Any chance that you selected a TV smaller than 55"? $500 off bundle only applies to 55" C5 TV or above.

      • In store will work, if they let you

  • +1

    Damn, great deal!!

  • +3

And i thought we are in recession but $3300 get 100 votes….

    • Only because of normal exorbitant OLED pricing I guess. Shame OLED tech isn't coming down in pricing that much. Always thought after a few years it would be similar priced to what LCD used to be. But I guess the tech can't sustain that pricing.

      • Maybe once the cheaper companies bring out OLED? They might stick with miniLED though

        • +1

Kogan have OLED TV's, I think the earlier models sport LG C2 panels too though I could be wrong. Can't get any cheaper than Kogan tbh haha

        • +2

This is what a lot of the reviewers seem to say, Mini-LED will take over as its a lot cheaper for the quality. It might be similar to the plasma / LCD battle , Plasma was better quality but price was just too high.

  • Is 65" good at the price it is listed?
    Are the panels the same.

  • Which soundbar to bundle? Or do I skip it and just use the TV speakers? Seems silly to just buy a crazy expensive TV and not get a good soundbar to use it with…

    • If you have a big room and want surround sound you would want S80TR with 2 rear speakers for $100 more than SC9S.

  • +4

jeez I wasn't expecting to spend >3K this morning but here we are

  • Ok TV Experts,
Should I drop all plans of buying a Sony Bravia 7 and get this instead.

Been thinking Mini LED for just general near-window performance where it would go, and I've had good experiences with my old Bravia's..

I would be upgrading from an older X95G bravia… pretty sure that has 1000 nits peak brightness, which I think is actually similar to this LG.
Therefore I feel like I'd probably be arguably used to the lighting performance?

    • +1

I'd consider the G5 65 for the same price given the HDR/input lag issues on the C5.

    • +1

Well i went into JB for a look in person, glad I did. Decided its not the TV for me, the reflections were very sharp and prominent on the LG compared to the Sony. Think i'll continue to wait for a good Sony deal.

  • Anyone manage to get free delivery?

    • +1

Try to call the store and ask for Free Delivery and installation, sometimes they offer it as a package and may offer better price.

    • I tried - end up paying about $10 for the delivery

      • I tried online, no go. Might try in store.

        • +2

Yep I did it in store

  • +6

Just be aware that if you are connecting the tv to the internet, turn off Automatic Content Recognition https://www.zdnet.com/home-and-office/home-entertainment/how…

  • +6

    Gamers beware.
HDR issues continue on C5 unless you do filmmaker mode but then that jacks up input lag a fair bit. No issues on the G5.

    https://youtu.be/kQp5Zk0DxV8?si=0vGCUM62mNDVGuRs as per RTings.

So essentially you have to pick between property HDR or high input lag.

    • Very valid point

    • Casual gamer coming from a shit 10 year old TV would notice this stuff?

      • +1

There's literally no point spending this amount on a technology that has instantaneous response times (way faster than VA/TN/IPS) and then downgrading back down to LCD response times due to software issues.

      • If you're planning to use it for gaming then hold for now until it's fixed. If not gaming it's not as much of a problem.

        • +1

I don't plan on using it for gaming but I always have the hope I will magically have more time to game in the future. In reality I won't, so it shouldn't really be part of my considerations.

      • It really depends on what type of games you're playing. I have the C4 which had similar issues. I just don't use game mode at all due to its reduced brightness. I'm a casual player as well and don't have play many games that are impacted by input lag, so it doesn't bother me at all.

    • Is this just for the current C5? Or does it also affect the C4?

      • C4 is the old model. I doubt you will find one now in the major retailers like JB etc.

  • Is it any soundbars or just the two that's featured that can be bundled ?

  • -5

    Will wait got C12.

  • -1

Whatever happened to siting close. A 40-55" is a good size if you are sitting close. Gone are the radiation glow from CRTs sitting close, neutralizing our nuts with the degauss gun.

  • Anyone processed successfully? Mine auto cancelled. Tried different accounts.

    • Auto cancelled as well. Ended up having to go to the store
