Are these any good? Seems like your bog standard 4K UHD TV with little to no redeeming features aside from it being 86".

I feel like money could be better spent on a smaller TV with mini-LED backlighting or even an OLED

It is a commercial display, the type you use as digital signages that are usually on for more than 12 hours a day minimum. Basically will outlive most of us.

There's no reason to buy a TV like this when you can buy a Sony Bravia 85" or a TCL QLED for same/less.

  • Warranty might be a factor. Yes I own a 85" Sony but it came with a 1 year warranty which isn't great is it? 3 years in with only an average of 2/4hrs/day it works fine but who knows how long it will last? Disposable? I would assume/hope that commercial TVs are designed and actually built for for 24/7 work.

My 46" Sony LCD from 2007 bought for $4000 is still working. Made in Japan though, not sure about newer Sony's. Made in Japan Sony's will last a generation (25 years plus).

Same with my 2008 Sony 40"
Sort of want it to die so i can upgrade my second tv 😆

      • Do they still make any sets in Japan?

      • Sharp 52" made in Japan from around the same era and still going strong, not one issue

    • In Australia, a warranty offered by a business doesn't override or limit the consumer guarantees provided by Australian Consumer Law (ACL). Even if a product is outside the specific warranty period, consumers may still be entitled to remedies like repair, replacement, or refund under the ACL.

Yeah it sounds good in theory but actual process of going through it is the problem.
Very rare a retailer may just accept it out of goodwill or based on your "threat" to take a legal action.
Most of the times it's an uphill battle for such cases.

We always hear about the companies getting penalised for the things they sold or the warranties they didn't honor 5-8 years ago. Most of the times there has to be a class action to get an outcome.

actual process of going through it is the problem.

          Absolutely this.

Those extended warranties sure look good in hindsight when you're on week 5 of trying to get the retailer or manufacturer to come to the party.

@CheapandUsed: Habib at an electrical retailer laughed in my face and said 'take us to court'. It's hard to enforce the ACL in practice
