Creative Pebble V3 Speakers $49 + Delivery ($0 VIC C&C) @ PC Case Gear (Price Beat from $46.55 @ Officeworks)

I was looking for some speakers to my PC that didn't break the bank after the old ones kept cutting out. Found these on PC Case Gear, they usually go for $79 RRP. Managed to pick them up for $46.55 from Officeworks with a price match. Reviews seems to say they are decent speakers for the price.

Good budget speakers. I have had white ones for several years without fail on both USB-C and Bluetooth usage.

    Pros are:
    * well balanced for the size - does not sound bright or tinny like other cheaper or same price bracket speakers
    * the small desk footprint and fits easily under monitor
    * small price for a step up on PC or laptop speakers
    * enough to fill a small room
    * looks good in white
    * as above has worked without fail for several years

    Cons are:
    * the cable connecting the left and right speakers is short (wish it was 10 to 20cm longer)
    * as expected for such small speakers the lack of low end frequencies (I use it for general browsing and videos and plug in headphones for gaming) and if you have much more expensive and better quality speakers e.g. I have a soundbar connected to the PC via HDMI, you can hear a lot more across the frequency range

It may be more worthwhile for some if you have the floor space to get the smaller V2 Pebble Plus $55 https://www.mwave.com.au/product/creative-pebble-plus-21-usb… for a slight improvement in bass however it has a shorter left and right speaker cable, has slightly smaller drivers and misses out on Bluetooth.

All in all I feel there are no cheaper PC speakers as good or reliable as these, they are a good upgrade over inbuilt PC speakers, to get further improvement you would have to pay double or more and if you are gaming would recommending using dedicated headphones

      V2 Pebble Plus $55 https://www.mwave.com.au/product/creative-pebble-plus-21-

fyi someone posted in forums about mwave going out of business and being bought by someone else.

lots of people can't get refunds and are worried about items paid for but not delivered yet.

I would buy from another store instead. same price here for example: https://www.umart.com.au/product/creative-pebble-plus-2-1-us…

even if not same price, umart have a price match policy

Mwave now in the same family as digidirect and Booktopia.

    • Are these similarly sound to the JBL flip 6?

    • What would be the next upgrade that does include Bluetooth? The only speaker I have is a JBL flip 6 and that sounds good but is Bluetooth only. Do you think these would sound comparable? I love the sound that comes out of my MacBook too but I feel that is probably much more expensive than $50

    • What difference does a subwoofer make?

I don't think I've had an audio setup with a subwoofer before so explain to me like I'm 5

Just wanted to chime in on the V3 vs V2 Pebble Plus debate. I’ve been using the V3s for a couple of years and they’re honestly great for the price. Always my go-to recommendation for anyone wanting decent speakers under $100. That said, they do lack a bit of bass. I tried switching to the V2 Plus thinking the sub would help, but I was pretty disappointed. The bass wasn’t clear, and overall the mids and highs felt way weaker than the V3s. I’ve found that pairing the V3s with an EQ tool (I use EQMac on Mac) really helps bring out more depth. If bass is your top priority, you’ll probably need to stretch the budget a bit. But for balanced, customisable sound under $100, I’d stick with the V3s.

use system wide EQ, or if your on a phone a music player with EQ.

after EQing my Pebble Plus 2.1. it sounds great and actually sounds like what it's got (with 4 inch sub) and gets plenty loud enough for a small room. I'm happy with it for $49 when it had that price drop at Umart. it's also impressive when you remember it runs off a 5W USB charger (I just use the tiny square Apple one I had lying around).

that reminds me also recommend you plug it into a USB charger, the 2.1 won't get enough power from a normal USB port. I have a USB meter so measured it too, playing loud it consumes around 700~800mA. normal USB port when you plug USB-A is 500mA max.

    • Which soundbar do you have ?
I didnt even know soundbars existed for PC's before I read your comment !

I looked at a bunch of the <$60 options earlier in the year for my nephew, and I settled on the V2 Pebble Plus 2.1, and it rocks! Other pebbles might be more "technically accurate" from 200Hz and above, but that little subwoofer is just a game-changer over all. And it all runs off 3.5mm+USB, which is crazy good IMO!

I use these and the three connection options are very handy. I use the BT to connect to my Samsung M8 Smart monitor for watching Netflix etc like a TV, the 3.5mm with a Chromecast audio as a Google Home speaker (I use my Nest Hub on my desk as the microphone, but not to play audio) and the USB for desktop PC audio.

My only reservation is that sometimes after changing physical connections, the audio drops in and out. But after a few uses, the problem goes away - go figure.

    • Aux in, Bluetooth and USB Input

those 3 features sound super good.

I just brought a generic soundbar that sits under your monitor and didn't realise it didn't have aux in, just purely usb a for audio and input and was stumped!

Was trying to find something similar to my taotronics tk sk0018. this thing works but i specifically needed to buy aux in so I can use the speaker less monitor aux output !

So yeah this other option seems useful from.OP

  • I bought this speaker last time around when it was on sale. The speaker sounds very bad, I had to throw it out because speakers on the computer are better than this. Thanks

    • Yep, these are paticularly bad speakers. Only saving grace is style/size.

Similar experience, but i returned them, not binned them.

    • What do you recommend instead? The sound of my MacBook speakers is really good or my JBL flip 6 is good as well so something similar to that would be cool

      • +2

Since you want Bluetooth you could add another flip 6 and have stereo sound

        • +1

The problem is flip 6 is only Bluetooth so I can’t really use it for my consoles etc. also it technically is my brother’s and I just steal it from time to time 😅

      • or my JBL flip 6 is good as well so something similar to that would be cool

something similar to Flip 6 would be Huawei sound joy here $50.

but if you are asking is the pebble similar but powered with no battery, yes it is similar. because small speakers, but the normal pebble have passive speakers on the back of each. so very similar to JBL design. I would think the similar spekaer design plays a big part in how it sounds.

      • If you just want a set of wired speakers, you can get a pair of creative's old gigaworks T20 for cheap on ebay, sounds way better than creative's modern products, but you do lose the convenience of it being USB powered.

    • I don't have these myself, but most places that reviewed them said they really punched above their weight. Are you talking about the pebbles?

  • There is a version of this with subwoofer for a few dollars more that should be more satisfying

  • Just get the kogitech Z626/3. Insnae pedormance if you dont mine $168. Theres no better sounding soeakers fornthe money.

Replying to this comment because the typos are hilarious 🤣

      • Lol i think my spell checker thing must have turned off. Clearly not as accurate as i thought.

    • soo expensive. I'm basically fine with my built in speakers just want a slight upgrade.

  • any deals on a 2.1 system?
the woofer is a game changer.

      • nice, but to expensive. 49 vs 239

        • big difference in power though.

I have the Pebble Plus 2.1, it gets loud enough in a small room for me, but I'm not exactly a loud listener. it has 8W rms power.

          S351dB has 150W rms.

I recommend because typically people who want 2.1 expect a certain type of sound. Pebble Plus for $49 does not sound like a 2.1. after EQ it sounds decent like a single 4 inch woofer but would be like a small pair of Edifier speakers such as R980T or R1010BT.

bought these last year. probably worst speakers i ever purchased. 2nd speakers in same price range would do much better than these.

  • Did you know that this little company from Singapore once ruled and monopolized the entire PC industry sound system?

  • Thanks OP, got one price matched !
