        • I havent heard about steam boiler seal problems since they made the latest changes

          https://coffeesnobs.com.au/forum/equipment/brewing-equipment…

This is info on those changes made
I cant recall in that thread or if it was somewhere else and it was mentioned that all though the O rings being removed is a positive it has made repairs more expensive if it does fail.

        • There shouldn't be issues anymore, the old design was just fundamentally flawed.

    • I bought this from HN back in 2016 for $700 and only in the last month has the o-ring seals started to leak, but this is a straight forward fix and there are youtube vides for this. About 2020 I replaced the solidnoid valve and that was it. Makes between 2 to 4 coffees a day. The 'Descale me' stuck message? Do the normal Descale then just do a reset of the machine and it goes away.

I got one second hand for ~400ish, had the steam wand start leaking after a few years, ignored it and kept making coffee to the point where it wouldn't reheat after the first heat up of the day. Took it to a guy and the insides were basically rusted out, but somehow I still got 3 coffees' a day out of it for a year plus after the wand started leaking.

If you take care of them they do a lot better than if you treat them poorly, but your mileage will vary a lot. I've got a guy in brisbane who looks after them (got mine second hand from him) and he did me a great deal on an upgrade when mine finally kicked the bucket (~700 for a Breville Oracle). I didnt need the upgrade but for that price it was worth it to me. (He also lent me the machine for ~1 month while he repaired my BDB, charged me nothing for the loan, and didn't charge for anything more than the parts in the repair. To the point where I gave him an extra $50 because he refused to charge me for his time).

      • I am also in Brisbane. Could you PM me the contact details of the guy? Thanks.

      • Can I also get your contact please? Thanks

I don't have a current insurance with racv, but I am still able to use my racv account (I took for road side assistance last year) and got the code. Shared it with the first person in the code sharing thread.

  • Is commbank yellow a discount code or cashback?

    • cashback

  • And 7% Shopback!

  • Any deals on the white version? Wife would kill me if i bring stainless steel into her kitchen 😂

Would goodguys etc price match a screenshot of the checkout price?

    • +1

I tried to get JB Hi Fi to price match, and they won't price match the coupon code price, only the already discounted price on the website

      • Damn! Thanks for trying mate

    • I got one for $1k from Bing Lee (including $200 in Shopback cashback) a couple of weeks back. Having seen them both in person, I'd pay the extra for white if you care at all about aesthetics.

  • Tempting!

  • got one, thanks OP! cracker deal

  • how do you do the yello thing? I can't find the deal on my app…. :(

    • It's targeted unfortunately..

      • That explains it! Thanks. I thought I was looking in the wrong section.

  • Ok so silly question maybe but am I wrong in thinking that joining RACV for $55, and then getting the 20% off is the right play here?

Get the bicycle insurance, much cheaper.

Use code Bike_50 for 50% off that policy.

    • Think you could do it monthly with bicycle insurance below and cancel it afterwards?

      Haven't tried it personally

      • +1

Does this work? Can anyone confirm? Haha

        • +7

Ok, for those curious I can confirm this works. What I did was created a plan with bicycle insurance on a monthly payment. Using the code Bike_50 I was able to get it for ~$2.50. Create an RACV account and then use your membership number to get the code. Finally cancel your plan. So the code effectively cost $2.50. Worth it in my opinion, hope this helps someone else keen on getting one.

  • This is a great price.
    I originally got a BES920 back around 2012. I had that repaired/serviced once.
Then I got a BES920 in 2022 for $999. I had it serviced just recently - leaking steam internally.
    Both machines have been wonderful.
Get a good grinder. I have a Eureka Mignon Specialita 55 - it's great, and a lot quieter than the Sunbeam grinder and two Breville Smart Grinders I had previously.

  • any idea why it's not showing up for cba yellow? ) :

    • You're not targeted. I wasn't but my wife was.

  • Awesome deal! MY machine is still going strong after 10 years…

  • Is the Yello a code or a link?

    • +1

it's a cashback on your card, like amex

  • Can I please get a spare code if anyone have one

  • +1

Apply a bike membership, pay by monthly, coupon code BIKE_50, now you just pay under $2.50, cancel it next month.

  • I have just bought the stainless steel one. My wife is not impressed with the colour. Is anyone interested in a swap for a white one or black. Im in melbourne, it was shipped this morning. Send me a message to see if we can work something out

    • Hi, can't seem to DM you regarding this. Can you pls message me

  • -3

    Great deal.

But there's no way this price is "close to an ATL".

    For example:
Breville BES920 Dual Boiler Binglee $639 Click and Collect @ Bing Lee on eBay

    • why the downvotes?

    • ATL on the updated version which has only been around circa 2022/23

      • -1

        Thanks for sharing the info.

I just checked CoffeeSnobs, and it is indeed an updated version with improved reliability since mid 22. Was wondering whether the new version still support the Slayer mod?

        • +1

It should do, it's just by rerouting the hot water control to syphon off pressure.

The new model is just in the fittings on the boiler

  • For those who have ordered, what Beanz coffee beans did you get for free with your order?
