How to Force a Website Popup to Reappear?

Had an email signup discount popup appear on a website (maybe shopify based?) 2 weeks back, didn't redeem at the time and now can't get it to re-appear, how can one force popups to appear?

I've tried:
Mobile, Chrome:
Clearing cache & all data
Incognito mode
Browsing the site as I did before (cant remember at which point it was triggered. What usually triggers, timing or specific actions?)

PC, Brave (not linked to mobile)
Clearing site data
Turning off any blocking apps
VPN

No luck. And original code that worked 2 wks back is now not working (didn't seem generic).

I realise it's possible that the company has also just disabled the discount & popup. Last time the discounts stacked, so would be nice to be able to get it.

Inexperienced in website builds, so TIA.

    Use a completely different device.

      Like a battery charger?

I was thinking something like the Sanyo SCA T45 but a battery charger would suffice as well.

          Not since the 'accident'…

          • @jv: Was it an accident, though?

            • @Protractor: The insurance company is still investigating…

    • Yep did so. 2x phones & a PC.

Clearing the cache and data will do the trick but if it's not popping up on a different device or clearing the data, then the business disabled the popup.

If the original code didn't work, then they definitely disabled it and they maybe finding a patch so the new code doesn't stack.

I run a Shopify site myself and stacking codes is done on purpose when a code is set up, it's quite hard to "accidentally" stack codes cause it's a whole different process.

    • Helpful! Thanks. Does your shopify build have any timing factors for the popup, or triggers?

It can have alot of options such as

        • which page it displays on
        • how many times it pops up for a viewer
        • how long between viewing the popup can appear again

But all the pop ups have one major thing in common, your cache, cookies and data. It remembers you and if the setting for the popup says to only show it once per day to a visitor, then it will but clearing your browser data, cookies and cache will show the popup again when the site is refreshed.

Unfortunately, I am 99.99% certain they disabled it to everyone and if the code isn't working from the last popup, definitely been disabled.

Go contact the business for a code as gwill.

  • Many organisations implement “Customer Data Platforms” - backend systems that track all your clicks/views and build up a profile on you, which they use to power market campaigns like pop ups, marketing emails, facebook/google ads and vouchers.

As others have mentioned, being “completely anonymous” (eg new device in incognito mode) is the best way, but they may have disabled the campaign anyway.

Just remember that any type of association to your previous activity can be tracked - entering your email address/signing in/using the same device that might have some old cookies etc

ah, was there a porn video preview in a banner that you really want to watch but can't get to reappear after 15 refreshes? I know that feeling.

In all seriousness, just incognito on a different device as that should do the trick for most device, as long as they don't have a very intricate tracking platform.

    google for the promo codes

add the item to your cart, and then leave it and see if you get any email with the code

    control + f5

  • I heard that if you try turning it on and off again, it works.
