LG 12kg Wash / 9kg Dry WashTower Stacked Washer Dryer Black (WWT-1209B) $2,999 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ JB Hi-Fi

130

Was looking for this since the start of the year - however I ended up getting a stacked 12/9kg washer dryer bundle, which effectively is just a split version of the washtower. It's surprisingly short - so at least you get back your top-of-machine space, and also you don't need to empty the heat pump given it just drains through the washing machine. If this deal came on earlier I would've gotten this.

Have been tempted by this for a while, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. Seems an ideal size for us and they do look pretty good in-store. Much smaller than equivalent single units for the same capacity.

Normal price $3,999 and this is the usual cycle sale price.

Downsides of this is that if your dryer or washer dies, you'll have to replace the entire system.

Only benefit I've seen is ease of access to the dryer controls and the shorter profile of it.

I had a deep thought on the pros and cons - if they die within warranty it doesn't matter - if they die say in 10 years time you wouldn't just swap out the washer and not the dryer anyway.

      • haha wut

        why wouldn't you?

  • Just a light 128kg lol

  • I have an LG stacked washer and heat pump dyer (with bonus slide out tray between).

The dryer has a tank or you can use a drain hose. I have to say it's quite rough on clothes - collects a huge amount of lint (maybe they all do. I've never been a big dryer user). Also find the 12kg washing machine isn't great at washing (though it plays a merry tune when finished and the phone notification is handy).

Just a thought. If you’re gonna drop a few grand on a washer/dryer spend 400 more with 2 of these and up your potential washing/drying capacity and flexibility? I know combo units generally have long cycles but even with this deal unless you’re hanging clothes on the line you’re going to be washing 2-3x faster than you can dry anyway

    • This doesn't take up more width than 1 unit. The question is does the one you linked stack. I'd doubt it due to the weight.

      • I guess it depends on your laundry layout. They’re unlikely to be stackable. It appears the controls for this are integrated into one unit. If it breaks it could be the washer, dryer or both. At least with 2 separate units you still have a functioning washer/dryer to use while the other one gets fixed.

        • Look at the product you are commenting on. 2 units will always be cheaper than this. That's not why people are buying it.

    • 86kg is too heavy to stack

That's not a heat pump dryer, the washtower is

    • Bought this combo last year and happy with it.. the drying do take longer on these but overall wife is happy with the ease of use and it’s kind of set and forget until both washing and drying is completed in one go..

      • Do you put in your shrinkable clothing in too? E.g. Woollen clothes?

What mode do you use? Apparently you can't set a high or low temp, and you can't set a delay function directly from the machine.

  • $2999 (plus delivery) is the routine good guys commercial price, for anyone who is debating and want to wait a bit longer
