  • posted a while back, but its a good deal so… :)

  • Got one of these a few weeks ago.. (paid more naturally!! :-( ) It is a brilliant camera and definitely not "EL CHEAPO".
I would compare it with cameras of more than double this price!! Grab one!

    • He means 'el-cheapo' as in the price, not quality.

  • I bought one of these a couple of weeks ago (to replace a lost Canon A430) for $128 @ JB HiFi and I'm very pleased with it.
It appears to be an excellent little digital point & shoot at a true bargain price.
Also has lots of features available for the keen beginner amatuer photographer (my 12 y.o. daughter) to experiment with and that a point-and-shoot user may never need/get to use.

P.S. Don't forget to search the Canon website for the "redemption" offer available for this camera - a Canon branded camera case. Hope you've claimed yours xywolap.

    Merry Christmas,
    [ :- { )

    • I could not find the redemption offer for this camera.
      Got a link?

    • Could you tell me which type of memory card this camera uses? Is it regular SD? And how is the quality of the images? Thank you

      • Memory card: SD Memory Card / SDHC Memory card / Multimedia Card / MMC Plus Card / HC MMC Plus Card

    • Got mine before the case offer came out. No big deal.. the camera is a steal by it's self.

    • Hey thanks very much for the info on redemption :) Got one of these little cameras as a birthday present, it's great so far and has taken decent photos.

For those asking about battery life, I've taken 80 shots on the 2 lithium AA batteries that were included with the camera and have not yet (but no doubt will soon) received a battery message. LCD has been on for more than half of those shots.

  • Hi, can I purchase this direct from a retail outlet or does it have to be via online? Thanks =)

    • I think you can as long as they have stock at your store. Click on the link to DSE, then click on Availability tab.

      • yeah, i agree. as long as they have stock in store, u should be able to pick up them
        saves u delivery cost

  • you know that it can be priced matched at officeworks with DSE, box hill store has stock, last time i checked it had 6

  • Yes, my Dad bought one from Tandy a few weeks ago. Its great value, he received a Case Logic case as well from Tandy but we sent in for the Canon case. The Case Logic case didn't fit the camera too well.

  • I got this camera b4 then so annoying and sold it because it drinks battery like hell, even using rechargable NiMH, it won't last for one day, try different kind of batteries, still the same … no wonder its price keeps going down so cheap … so be prepare to have lots of batteries handy …

    • +1

I found the battery life to be exceptional… Took around 150 pics and a few movies on 2 x std alkalines..!!
Maybe you were using the lcd screen all the time..??? Not necessary to do that with a camera with a viewfinder… saves heaps on battery life.
Just returned from o/seas trip and took around 600 shots on each camera (we got 2) along with a total of 40 mins of great movies… Always impressed with the battery life.
I have used other brand dig cams where the batteries were flat after 4 photos though..!!!

some of the reviews seem right horrible

    Any positive battery life stories?

    • Hi Demarco,

I just purchase this item today and I must say I am very impressed with it. I've got three DSLRs and a number of pocket cameras like this and take it from me, this is one of the better ones for the price. You can drop it into your backpack and not even worry about losing it.

So far, I've taken over 100 shots today, and it is still powering on (pardon the pun) with just Alkalines batteries.

The only negative comment I can make is that the Flash recharge time a little long, but that's what you expect from a camera without a Lithium ION battery.
The image stabilizer is great and the manual controls are excellent for a $100 item.

I refer you to this site for a definative review.

  • Bought this one yesterday @ OW Alexandria, price matched and discounted to $112.10
The guy was very fussy though, took a while because he is calling DSE stores that have stocks available to make sure I didn't buy at DSE because they out of stock.

Anyway, was very happy with the camera. It's got all the manual control (SLR like control dial). How cool is that for $112.10? Even IXUS models doesn't have these things :)

  • got it for same price at OW Freo

    thanks for the heads up

  • I've been looking for this camera around JB, Harvey Norman, DSE. However, I could not find any stock available.
Could anyone advise me where should I go to find it in Melbourne?

    Thanks.

    • have u tried to ring OW ? Pretty sure they can let you know which OW have them in stock

  • this would be an awsum DEAL

  • It's obviously gone up since :(
