The store that has almost 50 stores in VIC, NSW and ACT.

The price is good but is this another charcoal chicken place? People make a great virtue of charcoal cooking, but it is smoky and contributes a lot to local air pollution.

    • contributes a lot to local air pollution

      Doubt.

EL Jannah was initially a hype when they launched in Melbourne. Their chicken is similar to any other charcoal chicken place.
but for $5, its worth the bundle offered

    • +3

Still clears most existing charocal places in melb

      • but will they enshittify like gyg after x amount of years or months?

        • +4

          They already have

    Why no stores in QLD?

    • Too hot for charcoal chicken?

  • +2

nice! I'll grab 2 to reheat next day before going to Collingwood vs West Coast at Marvel

    weekend sorted

  • Are these guys actually good? Far cry from the Granville store days.

Had it recently and it was dry af

    • Not really, was introduced to them by friends in Sydney originally a couple of years back. The chicken is mostly dry and the only thing they have going for them is their garlic sauce/dip.

  • +1

Its all about that garlic sauce

another el jannah thread, another comment section saying it’s bad. idk why it’s so divisive. I love it so much I’ve devoted my life to defending it on ozbargain. maybe it’s just my local is good and everywhere else sucks.

go give crows nest or lindfield a try. quarter chicken deluxe with the pickles. don’t get the fried chicken.

    • The family tried Lindfield on opening day. We'll probably give our free burger/wings vouchers to a homeless person - that says it all.

    • I like it too. Dunno what people expect tbh.

  • So that's what 95 percent off retail? Go to tasty rooster Coburg it's about 30 dollars for hot chicken and family chips and they sell out every night unless you call in advance. If you really feel like a little Lebanese flavour you can buy pickled turnips and flat bread from the joint next door.

  • Good deal.
Its hard to pay full price when the chicken pieces are smaller than most suburban chicken shops.
    the sauce is good.

  • El Jannah can be good, the Toum (Garlic dip/sauce) is sensational. Pity they don't include the lebanese pickles as well. I was in Granville in SYD the other day, and was introduced to Hawa, the other charcoal chicken from Granville - if you are ever there, give it a go. A big step up from El Jannah
