  Anyone remember the days when Gillette blades were made in Germany, they were sharp, well made, and would last forever. I remember cutting myself many times with a fresh blade because of how sharp they are.

  Now the Chinese made ones are basically blunt the first time you use them, they are poor quality, and last about 3-4 shaves before you bin them.

  I can't ever read the back of the packaging from the link OP posted.

    I'm pretty sure that's intentional. Chinese manufacturers can make products that last longer, if they want to.

    But better quality means fewer purchases, which means less profit for them. It's just like with light bulbs story…

    switched to safety blades when their woke ad came out. Will never go back to using Gillette for the rest of my life.

      Safety blades are not for hard beards. Everytime I tried them I had cuts on my face and neck. I have a braun shaver too but does not give as close shave as Gillette razor

  Fun Fact: King Camp Gillette, the namesake inventor of the disposable razor blade, was just another megalomaniac technocratic authoritarian (he dabbled with both socialism and fascism). He outlined in his book "World Corporation", a company of the same name (which actually existed) to control and direct all production and labour, initially in the United States and then expanding worldwide. The eventual goal was to make governments and democracy obsolete with their essential functions being taken over by the World Corporation Congress. Maybe his vision of dystopia can be achieved with the coming AI-led '5th industrial revolution'?
