Any idea how these laptops compare to Lenovo or Asus etc? I've never heard of them before.

Edit: thinking for son for school laptop and gaming at home.

There is probably more but there are 2 big companies that make laptop chassis that non oem brands use (metabox, erazer etc) are tongfang and clevo.

      https://www.wikiwand.com/en/articles/Clevo

      https://noteb.com/?content/article.php?/2021/03/05/who-is-to…

A number of companies will use tongfang or clevo Chassis as the base and badge them as their brand.

The chassis themselves are generally good what you are paying for when it comes to different brands who all use the same chassis is the support, customization options and varying level of quality control.

Have no experience with Erazer personally and can only comment on the underlying chassis.

      • Great response, thanks!

  • Maybe a silly question, is there any reason you wouldn't get one of these if you aren't a gamer and just looking for a decent priced laptop?

    • Gaming laptops can be bulkier, heavier and noisier due to extra cooling required because they usually run hotter. Screens are usually bigger too which may be a pro or a con. You can usually throttle them a bit to reduce the heat/noise but on a reasonably powerful one it is still noticeable once you open a few apps.

      • Thanks. Didn't think about the fan noise. Good call

        • Forgot to mention, generally battery can go flat quicker on gaming laptops too, but this can be true of other laptops as well.
