DVD Collection Tracking App?

Hi all, does anyone have any suggestions for an app that lets you track your DVD collection on your phone?

I frequent op shops to pickup DVDs but getting to a point where I'm losing track of what I do and don't have. Seems most apps are US centric so figured I'd ask if anyone knows of one. Prefer something I can scan the barcodes to make it easier.

Thanks in advance

i made one in Excel for my vinyl albums and singles and was stoned so cross-related musos, instruments they played, albums they played( both as guest artist or member),songwriters, back-up vocalists. Used to work a treat, but i forgot the password haha

There are tools to remove the passwords.

      • Yeah was hoping to have to avoid having to enter in each title. May have to be this solution of nothing else pans out that can scan upcs in Oz

        • Find a list of every single dvd, put that in a column, then use that column to make a drop down.

  • You need the dementia app

And you would remember every single title out of 300+ titles?

      • Sorry, what was the question?

Come home from OP shop and realising this is your sixth copy of Memento

  • You could rip all your DVDs to something like Plex and then use the remote library feature to check what movies you have on your phone when out shopping.

    Maybe stop hoarding?

    • So insightful….

    • Yeah alas none of these recognize au titles from what I've found so far.

  • Are you selecting the Australian flag before scanning them on the Blu-ray.com My Movies app? The U.S. flag is the default on Blu-ray.com because it’s a U.S. run site, if you have another countries flag selected then Australian titles won’t come up when searching.

Why is scanning them so important? It would take about the same amount of time to individually scan a barcode as it would to type the title name into the Blu-ray.com My Movies app search field and select add title to your collection.

There are many thousands of Australian DVDs in the Blu-ray.com database so all of your 300 titles likely already have a listing in their database.

The my movies app does have barcode scanning as an option, however the Blu-ray.com title database is a user maintained database, so it takes users to add the barcode when they’re adding other title information. If there is no barcode for many of your DVDs in the Blu-ray.com database, then if you want to benefit from the collection app resource they provide, why don’t you contribute to improving their database by adding the barcodes to the DVD entries you own that don’t have them listed?

    • Thanks for the reply. I just figured scanning a barcode would be quicker than having to manually enter each name. I tried my movies again and as you say the success rate is patchy.

I ended up going with letterboxed in the end. Still had to enter all names but covered all my titles. Allows for categories and sorting so should do the trick for now.

  • I use CLZ Movies on my phone.
I also use their desktop app for my comics.

  • Thanks all. I ended up settling on letterboxed for now. I will look at my movies down the track and see how well the database is fleshed our for au releases.

Another issue I stumbled across is that latter boxed doesn't seem to support TV series. Is this a general.issue across these apps and id so can anyone recommend one?

    • Is there an equivalent number per movie (like ISBN) that you could use per title, when using spreadsheet or Letterbox?
Just thinking long term about flexibility of the info.Or could it simplify things to just use such a number when in the actual 'hunting/shopping mode, to rule in/out duplicates?
