    I heard they are not 24/7 ?

    • Same but unsure of which are or aren't.

    • A lot still are but the ones that aren't staffed after a certain time are getting a key card system

    • +2

Al least fullfill the 24/7 or change the name

  • Give it a bit more time, yearly membership will come down to pennies

    • +1

They will pay you to join

    • What's a penny?

      • +4

        The most fragrant of coins

    Previously on Derrimut…..

    • A handful of 'Derrimut 24/7' locations changed to 'select opening hours only'
    • There was instant backlash
    • Owner promises key fob access within weeks
    • A few months go by with no sign of key fob installation
    • Continued low priced membership offers and key fob radio silence caused further speculation of the gyms longevity
    • Select locations have strange occurrences of opening times causing further speculation
    • Owner makes a video assuring everything is fine and the wiring of the key fobs has taken time
    • Membership prices continue to drop
    • +9

For what it's worth, for the price, I have been very happy with my experience. My locations always have cleaners who do a great job and the equipment is typically fixed when faulty within a few weeks. I'm hoping it's just been a few bad incidences and nothing more.

      • I referred Derrimut-gym to people & ALL love it: value-for-money. Some even paid full-price, ~ $495.

  • +6

Not worth the money. Pay more, get a gym that is not
    * crowded
    * has parking
    * clean
    * maintenance

    • +5

Nothing wrong with the gym. I signed up a few weeks ago. Great atmosphere

      • +3

if you like your 'atmosphere' to be insanely loud music and fitness influencer-looking characters on their phones hogging every piece of equipment

        • +3

          the loud music is absurd

        • -6

You're going to a gym. Not a funeral.
The gym is huge. Plenty of equipment readily available.

          • +9

@Duece1995: Its fine to have music playing, but when 90% of people in there are using headphones/earbuds, why tf does it have to be so loud.
Having to blast the volume on my (noise cancelling) earbuds just so I can hear my own music is insane.

            • +1

@bAps: Not sure which gym you're talking about my local Derrimut does not have this issue

    • Any cheap good gyms in sydney

      • -1

This is like 2 bucks a week compared to 20 nicks a week lol… and this gyms don't have have the range of equipment that derrimut has… so this is a bargain. Even if they close up shop in 3 months you still got your moneys worth

    • Love it. Have to walk for a couple of minutes but I'm waking to a gym so its a good warm up

    • +3
      • 24/7
      • has shower
      • and a Tesla to sleep
      • rent sorted
  • +2

Okay at this price point it's surely worth the risk they go under, if you get 2-3 months out of it it's all good. Pay on credit card for chargeback if they go under soon as well.

    • You can only claim a chargeback if they go into liquidation before fulfilling the order

    • People have been crying this for years

      • +2

They’re being chased now for not paying employees superannuation, that’ alone is a huge red flag.

A cashed up business that wants to go to key fobbed 24hr gyms instead of staffed should be able to do that far quicker than the 5months people have been waiting since Feb. its not like the technology has to be developed, they just have to install and roll it out.

They haven’t been doing themselves favours by endless deals like this and a couple friends that use them get endless emails to renew yearly memberships after only several months.

There’s smoke, public hasn't seen fire yet, but there is smoke.

Compare against the prices of competing gyms per week, and find the "payback period" vs other gym memberships. At $128 All the gym needs is to stay afloat for 2-3 months for you to get ahead financially.

And give them a disposable email address as you're paid up for the year.

  • +1

Lots of news info some are shitting down/ closed out etc surprised nobody has mentioned it

    • +3

      Luckily they have good cleaners

    • Which ones? Is it fact or the same rumors that gave been going around for years

    • My local one was cleaned by front desk staff. Don't know they hire an extra cleaner.

  • Still expensive and if you drive an auto transmission ICE or EV car and eat mac jac kentaki then you chase these things.

    • +1

      I can confirm, i am a capitalist with a 4 speed auto

still $118 idk why u put the establishment fee not in the title.

  • This deal is insane, wish i didnt top up on the 199 last time haha

  • I would happily pay 20x this price for a Gym that is half as full

    • You can always go revo .. their gyms look ok

    • I mean, pretty much any normal gym is less than 1k per year

    • This. 100%.

I don’t mind the equipment range/quality and size of the derri’s gyms - would be amazing if they charged 2k/year and were 1/10th as populated and properly maintained/cleaned. Most of the expensive gyms in SA have much less equipment range, which is still way better than waiting around for equipment.

    • at that point, build your own gym?

    • Zap is only $9.99 a week and is actually 24/7 access with an app on phone to swipe in. not crowded especially if you don’t go during peak times

  • So we all agree they'll be gone in 6 months?

  • +2

and here our local anytime fitness has raised prices from $14.99 a week to $28.99 a week after my last contract expired

    • +1

A week $29 for gym membership. That's insane!!

  • I was told they were open another branch in North Brisbane then they closed down the last one in South Brisbane lol.

For under $100 a year, it's too good to be true.

  • Has anyone got experience of one in Windsor gardens, SA?? How’s it?? I really wanna join something cheap but nice… somewhere in north… please recommend…

    • Its so bad and horrible and no one should ever go there, its like fighting guerilla warfare in Vietnam! Everyone should go to a different gym and keep that one nice and empty for me, mys- I mean keep it empty for mr derrimut to learn a lesson!

  • +3

Had to check that there wasn't a typo, and that there really is a gym that sounds like it's named for a dog on a dairy farm.

  • +3

Just don't go with Anytime Fitness. They will try shaft you.

I cancelled my membership with them (after 10 years) and they slugged me another payment, and did so without authority.

Had to lodge all sorts of disputes with my bank and Consumer Affairs etc. Bank dispute sided in my favour.

    • They have a very long history of doing this. I thankfully got out during covid when they were forced to have some leniency.

  • Value for money the best gym by miles

However the Caroline Springs Gym has hit refugee camp packed
