I own the older S7001 as I cannot afford a robot vacuum and would buy it again if needed. Each bedroom takes around 7mins unless it needs a second pass and though not recommended I add a little bit of generic hardwood floor cleaner to each refill once a month. Off the top of my head the older version also does not have LED headlights. The cord is longer at 8m versus 5.7m for the new model above. It is pretty quiet in operation.

The older version is around $178-188 (check delivery) at various stores.

Check for ShopBack looks to be 10.5% off.

Cheaper on Amazon business if you still have 30% off.

    • Can't find s8201. The one showing on my Amazon business is the older model.

Do you have a link to s8201?

    Does it make espresso?

  • One correction is that it doesn't include a 'filling flask' as the tank is removable. The site is wrong.

    • Would much prefer a removable tank. Emptying the S7001 currently requires tipping it upside down 🙃

Cheers mate! Got one. My current robot vac only drags a cloth behind, was thinking if I should buy a spinning one. But those things are a bit too pricey. Also I reckon this does a better job than a spinning robot vac.

Been reading forums and all recommend NOT to add any detergent/antiseptics into the reservoir, nor onto the pads. But I love the smell of Dettol/Pine O Clean on a freshly mopped floor. I know this is supposed to be “chemical free cleaning” but does anyone else incorporate floor cleaners with these steam mops? 3 teenage boys, and a large dog makes me feel the need for industrial chemicals over just steam to sanitize my home.

I've had the model previous to this for a year and definitely recommend getting one - but I'd skip adding anything to the water.

Most importantly you'd be creating a chemical vapour which I know you get some of with a hot bucket of water, but this is chemical flavoured steam puffing out… can't be healthy.

Also due to the heat used to generate the steam it risks developing a burnt-on film (or everyone's favourite euwww, a crust) inside that will shorten the life of the device. It will also void any warranties.

In terms of adding something to the floor or the pads, I've sprayed floor cleaner and let it sit, then used the steam mop but I found it left a film rather than the shine I got on the tiles with just water so I needed to go back and buff the streaks with a cloth on my hands and knees.

Wondering if it might prove a better investment to buy additional pads (even after-market ones) and change them for each area?

Another idea - pop whatever chemical you choose into a pressure sprayer, spray down the floor, let it sit for a bit, and then run the steam cleaner. More or less the same effect but with no chemicals inside the device! You'd still be breathing in the fumes so keep the doors and windows open and make sure there is sufficient air circulation.

  • I think that you inhale too much if it's steaming. I have this mop and I too desire to use chemicals. I haven't yet.

  • Has anyone got experience using this on natural timber flooring? Terrible idea or doable with the right technique..? I currently use a damp microfibre pad with floor cleaner & hot water, so it’s not like our floors don’t get wet, but it’s a bit of a tedious process

    • yeah, i have it and it's fine. use low steam. mine are pine.

  • This does not vacuum water? So it would leave behind a wet floor?

If you can justify the higher cost, I would recommend the Tineco S5 steam instead, sometimes it is 50% off at Amazon.

  • I’m in two minds whether to buy a Narwal Wet Vac or a Shark power detect along with this. I am looking to replace my Dyson v8 and my cheapie $20 mop to go with my Dreame L10S Ultra.

  • How damp do the floors end up being after use on this one?
Have had steam mops in the past that really left a lot of moisture on floors.

    • Been using this for a while and I can confirm this doesn't leave noticeable moisture on floors. Having said that I generally leave all windows, doors open and keep the fans turned on for quicker drying

Price has gone up by $10

  • Wish theres a hack to use a floor cleaner that doesn't impact the efficiency of steam function.
