  • Aldi does delivery or pickup only?

    • +1

      Pickup only. Too expensive

    • +5

      ALDI won't do delivery because:

      1) Their only way to compete with Colesworth is to keep prices as low as possible

      2) They make most their profit on impulse Special Buys

      • +1

They had some specific special buy items for delivery a few years back, but it was either an experiment or a COVID thing.

      • Aldi have just started trialling delivery in Canberra. It's coming. They want to be become a genuine third option to break the duopoly.

  • Is the dryer any good?

    • +7

It's a rebranded Esatto, aldi's model number is SHPD800W. Check the comments here:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/esatto-ehpd800

I had mine for a month, pretty happy with it.

    • I can’t compare to any other dryer as this was my first one. It takes about 3.5 hours to dry clothes.

I have no major complaints for me it does the job and it’s good enough I’m not sure what else other than efficiency could be improved? Good energy consumption and I use it 2-3 times a week

Clean the filter once a month at the bottom of the machine or it’ll leave a funny smell on your clothes.

      • How does it handle sheets? Do they ball up? I don't suppose it reverse tumbles.

        • +1

apparently it does have reverse tumble - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/16650398/redir

yeah it can ball up a bit with sheets. i have kids clothes and adult clothes and sheets and it comes out dry generally. it's not that much a problem, i may have to hang dry occasionally but it doesn't happen every week. the last time i did it was probably a month ago and it'd just be in a particular spot.

Ours stopped heating after two to three years. Most ALDI electronics are cheap for a reason; They're not built for longevity (or at least will work until warranty ends).

      • what did you buy after?

        • Fisher & Paykel. More details below.

      • What did you do with it afterwards?

        • +2

Well, a friend of ours is is a very good appliance technician, and he recommended us to go with a Fisher & Paykel dryer instead. Rather than buying brand new, he built us one using an older unit and new parts, and it's been working really well. There are plenty of parts available for F&P, so he can easily replace something if there was an issue. We paid $300 and he disposed the ALDI Stirling unit at no extra cost.

    • It works fine with tweaks but you have to keep up the maintenance to make sure it runs effectively and keep it running, for example emptying the lint filter, cleaning the pump filter, and ensure water drains correctly. I used to use the standard drying setting but sometimes it would leave washing with some slight dampness. So I added two extra dryness levels in the settings which increases the drying time and it now completely dries the washing, and I also made this my favourite setting. However, although it takes longer to dry, the greatest feature is that this heat pump dryer compared to our Simpson 4kg heated vent dryer which it replaced, uses way less electricity to run. We had to use it so much over the last quarter and the bill was very reasonable where the heated vent dryer would have sent our bill to the moon. This alone is the reason I will never buy a heat vent dryer ever again.

Waiting for Appliances online or others to put a matching washing machine offer with delivery. Not keen to pick up a 75kg box from Aldi

    • Gross Weight: 45kg

  • What would make these dryers really good is to include a regular heating element. Because they do a great job at getting the clothes to 80% dry, but it needs hotter temperatures for the last little bit to get them extradry

    • Mine come out dry from our heat pump..

      • Dry isn't really a measurement though. It's an observation, and it depends on the person. Some people will feel something and say 'thats dry' while others will feel the same thing and say 'that feels slightly damp'

I've tried two heat pump dryers, and in both cases the clothes felt slightly damp (as compared to the bone-dry result you get from a regular dryer)

        • Our Bosch heat pump dryer leaves clothes dry and soft for us - but not hot and crispy dry like our old vented dryer. I prefer heat pump though - cheaper to run and uses lower temps, so I feel it’s gentler on fabrics and better for them in the long run.

  • A reminder that this exists if you're based in SA

Could be worth $90-340 ish rebates depending on your circumstances

  • I predict there will be an OzB post that within the next 2 weeks the Bunnings Esatto Heat Pump Dryer is going on sale ,
Oh and for just a few $$$ less than this one!!

What is the maximum spin speed of the washer?

    • Important question. I recently found out that heat pump dryers struggle to dry washing that isnt fully spun.

  • The is no cure for aldi special buys.

  • I’m in the market for a dryer. Will these sell out quick? Do I need to be there Saturday morning when they open?

    • Yes, my local they were pounced upon. I was lucky to get one.

  • I cant find warranty information on aldi website.

Are they stackable, can i stack dryer on top ?

Any reviews of washing machine and dryer ?
    Anyone can suggest?

    • They are stackable, the other brands they are sold as have a stacking kit available. I intend to use a generic stacking kit to go with my washing machine.

      • Any link to buy ?

I just bought both of these.

Any cheaper and solid solution for stacking ?.

        Thanks mate.

      3 year in house warranty

      • Thanks

In house means : repair at home i assume.

        • That is my understanding

  • Is the washing machine any good?

  • Managed to get the heat pump dryer this morning. Thanks OP!

For those who have this dryer and already installed it, just one silly question:

    Where are the feet?

When I unpacked, I found there to be black rubber "rings" which appear for protecting something white in colour. But I could not find any feet separately provided?

The instruction manual shows the adjustable feet to be black in colour. But at the bottom of the dryer I do not find any things which appear to be like that……

I called their support line but they are closed on this Saturday afternoon already.

    Thanks!

    • How did you go ?
I found the same thing when i opened it today.

    • +2

The black rings are just the protectors. The white things are the feet, they do unscrew to adjust the height. The feet also have a lateral holes in them. You can insert a skinny rod, a screwdriver or something of that sort to rotate the feet as well.

      • Thanks Aardee.

Raj and Just buy it, I never got time around to call them during day time. It happens that the machine, as is, is not "walking" when operating. So I just did nothing about it. :-)

        Cheers!

  • Anyone know if the ALDI 10kg Washing Machine let's you run a "cold water" wash cycle (i.e. without heating the water)?

I heard that on the more recent ALDI washing machines the minimum temperature is 20ºC for all cycles.
But I can't find any online documentation for this model to confirm.

    • Not sure if it will leave it cold or heat it to 20C but if it did, it would use bugger all power

  • is the Stirling 10kg Front Loader Washer a rebrand of some Esatto washer or another brand?

  • Do we need to drain? Our laundry room is very small and no sink in the garage.

    • For the dryer?

      • Yes thats correct. Pls correct me if I'm wrong.

        • +1

No need to drain. The heat pump dryer collects water in a reservoir and you need to empty it after each use.

  • Is this deal expired already? Any other heat pump dryer on sale currently

    • +2

Don't think special buys expire but may get harder to find stock. You can try your luck with the Aldi stock checker - https://help.aldi.com.au/stock-availability

      • I searched 3 diff post codes, couldn't find anywhere. Decided to buy Beko 8 kg from elsewhere

  • Bought a heat pump dryer from this deal, within the first couple of uses, "water container full" symbol appears even tho it has been emptied. I then set it up to bypass the container and drain directly into a drain outlet, but the "water container full" symbol still occurs. Have to continuously press start and monitor the dryer in case it stops.

Raised with Aldi warranty over the weekend, trying to divert us to the manufacturer. Will be returning it to the store tomorrow. Seems like if you get one it's either DOA or will kick on to about warranty period.

    • Hi Jazza2400 I have the same problem. What are our options? Can you get it repaired or are you better off getting a refund?

  • Morning all..
Have a question hoping for some advice in regards to the 10kg Top loader washer & the 8kg HeatPump Dryer I recently purchased these item's but no enough room in laundry. Was thinking about getting a stacker to put the dryer on top of washing machine just unsure if it's good move or not? Hoping to get some helpful advice please…
