Stan Premium + Stan Sport for $9.99/Mo for Eligible Optus Customers until 8/1/26 (Optus Sport Content Only after) @ Optus Subhub

620

Optus Sport has handed off the rights to all their content over to Stan, effective 1 August.

Having a look at SubHub, it looks like there is a deal for Optus customers to sign up for Stan at a discounted rate that includes all of Stan's content up until January. If I'm reading the FAQ right, the $9.99/month will still be charged after January but you'll lose access to everything else (I'm assuming that means Stan's current sport offering).

Note that this deal is for new Stan subscriptions only, it seems. It does say also for returning but according to the A-League subreddit, there have been issues with signup up using existing accounts.

Relevant bits of the FAQ:

Will I still have access to Optus Sport on Stan if I’m no longer with Optus?

No, Optus Sport on Stan is only available to eligible Optus customers while you remain an Optus customer. If you cancel your eligible Optus service/s, your Optus Sport on Stan subscription will be cancelled at the end of your current Optus subscription cycle, and you won’t be eligible to re-subscribe. You will be able to access the same football content by subscribing directly to Stan Sport.

What happens to my Optus Sport on Stan subscription after January 2026?

Your access to Stan Entertainment and Stan Sport ends on 8 January 2026. After that time, your Optus Sport on Stan subscription will only provide access to the Optus Sport football content and you will continue to be billed $9.99/month.

Can I choose to not activate my Optus Sport on Stan subscription today and sign up later?

Yes, you have the option to access Optus Sport on Stan any time before the end of the 2027/28 Premier League season by subscribing via SubHub, provided you remain an Optus customer with eligible services.

I can see it in subhub Stan but when I try to activate it say we're unable to process subscribe request, please try again later.

Seems to work now? I have a current Stan subscription, changed my Stan email to match the Optus one, and then cancelled my Stan subscription (still active until 15 July). Went into Sub Hub and activated the offer, entered my email and it said that a Stan account existed and I should log in, and once I logged in, it said the offer had been redeemed. My account now says I'm subscribed to the "Stan Customer Offer" with the first billing ($9.99) starting 15 July. Sorted.

  • i cannot see stan there, only optus sport

Crying in 'I paid for 12 months of Optus Sport coverage and don't have an Optus mobile service'.

    • I'm in the same situation. I don't think we can take advantage of this deal?

      • Got an email they will refund pro-rata

  • seems to work now. I used a different email address to my Optus account and it worked

    • still getting the 'unable to process subscribe request, please try again later.' message when I try to activate. No option to enter email address. How did you get through?

      • I just went through subhub and clicked activate Stan. It then asked me to login to my Stan and did the rest for me. Maybe it's down again

  • Is this like the Foxtel of streaming services?

  • cannot find it

  • Paying for an Optus deal that is outdated as I am avoiding the upsized deals (Why can't they offer a lower data plan for slightly less cost???) to get the discounted Optus sport.

Should work out cheaper to get Stan + some el cheapo plan/big prepaid deal.

That being said, Stan need to have a Stan Sport only tier. Paying 12/mth for Stan which I won't use sucks.

  • I can't even see Stan inside Subhub?

    • Same, Stan doesn't exist for me

  • optus chat are telling me I can only access Stan from 1 August

I just try again now same error unable to process subscribe request, please try again late. it seems some people have successfully activated there subscription

Thanks. Me too. Can watch wimbledon now

  • Sooooo confused. So if Im paying $9.99 a month for Optus Sport as an Optus customer, will I need to pay an additional $9.99 for this deal?

Therefore since I cannot cancel Optus, will this effectively mean I am paying $20/month for Stan and this will be charged to my Optus account?

    • You no longer need to pay $9.99 to Optus. If you want to keep Optus Sport, you can pay $9.99 to Stan (via Optus) instead per this deal. No change in total amount paid.

      • Thank you.

Further to your comments, logging into SubHub and managing my Optus Sport, it says Billing will end in the 1st of July and that payment will be $0.

So yep $9.99 per month now for Stan until Jan…

  • I"m still so confused - what do I get after 8th Jan 2026 with "optus sport via Stan"?

    • grey area - the FAQ's seem to indicate after that date, you only get to watch premier league/FA cup (optus content) via Stan for $10, not stan entertainment or other sport.

      • thats better than nothing. I had a feeling I would lose all content and will need to subscribe to Stan for $32 ($12 basic plus $20 sport)

  • i can only find $25 / month option. Where is the $10 option?

    • need to have been an optus sport customer I think, and on a postpaid optus plan

  • +1

I noticed they jacked up the sports add on to $20 from $15
so come Jan it will be very similar price to kayo

  • I'm with Optus for postpaid mobile and Optus Sports. Didn't get email from Optus on the change, and there's nothing in subhub allowing me to subscribe to Stan there. The Optus sports website just refers readers to the Stan website. The Stan website has a link for Optus Sport subscribers but it just sends me in a perpetual loop back to full price sign-up options. I emailed Stan support, their reply within ten minutes was 'there are no offers for you to redeem at this time' plus a whole spiel about their fab new EPL deal, so I guess that came straight from their AI generator. At this point I will be looking at some of the alternatives mentioned in the thread.

  • I don't think I'm the only one but an existing Optus Sports customer here and the $9.99 offer isn't available anymore…

Instead I'm being pushed to a $25p/m offer for Stan Premium and Sport. The kicker in the T&C's is that it the offer ends and I'll be slugged the full fee of $42 a month?!

Anyone else in the same boat?

    • Same, I don't see that 9.99 deal anywhere . No discounted rate anywhere

  • I have Optus internet (no mobile service) and was paying +$10/month for Optus Sport. Stan is not listed in Subhub for me, and there is no offer in my (existing but inactive) Stan account using the same email.

    • I've also been told that there is no promotional pricing for me, and I'll need to pay $32-$42/month now for EPL access.

      From Optus support:

"I understand your concern. However, Stan has indicated you need to reactivate your account with them. You will need to reactive your account with Stan at their current pricing to access the content being transferred from Optus Sport. If you're an active Stan customer now, or have been recently, unfortunately you're not eligible for any offers as part of Stan."

I had used Stan Sport to watch the Champions League semis/final earlier this year, but otherwise haven't been using it for years. Sucks that this means I'm not entitled but if I was never a customer I would have been.

Edit: confirmed by Stan support too.

  • So if i leave Optus NBN after January and will is still be charged $9.99 for this?

  • Anyone tried recently to sort this out. Tried yesterday and basically Stan didn’t want to know and denied any knowledge of any offer for Optus sports users and Optus said take it up with Stan. Infuriating assistance from Stan, just awful.

  • Anyone want to buddy up and share a sub. I would be very keen on a spare Stan Sport slot 👋🏼 feel free to DM me.
