What's the difference between this and the usual 'big names' (Omni desk, desky, flexidesk etc)

I have one for the past 2 years, this brand and so far this is been serving well. it may not go down lower than 70cm but thats not a deal breaker for me.

There are a few brands available. The more expensive ones have faster adjust speed or it uses 2 motors instead of 1. Hence, this one can only support 80kg vs other popular brands usually around 100kg+ with speed of maybe 40mm/s. There are other really expensives one are those that use real wood tabletop and Linak's motors which are a Denmark company and they are the top quality motors for these sit and stand desk (some of those motors are made in China though). These Linak motors can sometimes go 70-80mm/s which can support heavier weight up to 130-150kg. This kind of weight is mainly for people who are going to put monitor arms with monitors, speakers, PCs, and other things on their desks. If you just have basic needs such as monitor + laptop and mouse/keyboard, then I guess 1 motor is sufficient.

      • Appreciate your detailed response! Can you give some suggestions for brands to explore that have dual motor and/or are just generally good vibes?

One thing I've found is they all seem to be massive 140cm+ desks. I'm just after a 100cm-120cm preferably. But if the offer is good I'll consider a larger desk.
