[NSW] Electricity and Gas offers

Is AGL with $200 credit the best offer:

https://www.agl.com.au/residential/energy/compare-plans?srsl…

Just wondering if anyone has signed up recently

    I don't see $200 credit. I only see:

Enjoy up to $150 in credits when you join AGL online

That’s $75 for electricity and $75 for gas. Simply stay for 90 days.

Credit offer for new and moving residential customers in SA with selected plans.

Have you looked here: https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/ ?

I see this when I click on link

Up to $200 in credits when you join online and stay
Get a one-off $100 (GST incl.) credit per fuel (electricity and gas) when you switch your home energy to AGL from another supplier or move your home energy with AGL online. Simply stay for 90 days.

    • Thanks

Really depends on the rates you're being offered.

In Vic there is an energy compare website….not sure what NSW offer.

But jump on some energy providers and compare the supply charges, rates of use to get a feel and then see if the bonus incentives are worth it.

For me in Vic, I just checked and Lumo compared to my current AGL rates…..peak (7c cheaper), off peak (4c cheaper) and daily supply was 10c cheaper) and this is before the AGL price rise in August (hence why I'm looking).

Default plans went up 10% today, thanks to Albo's cheaper electricity promises.

    • Wait for the affordable housing scheme 🙄

Albanese pls join America as the 51st state, instead of Canada. Imagine buying a brand new MACBOOK PRO for 1600

Pls daddy Trump make it happen.

            @John Barosa:

Pls daddy Trump make it happen.

That's what he seems to be trying to do… Basically stalking him around the world.

@jv: Makes me wonder why Trump says NOTHING about Australia, like he got slightly pissed at KEVIN RUDD and that's it. Bro has been trolling the entire globe except us. We need AMERICA a lot more than CANADA does. Like the threats of annexation should be going towards us. I bet most of Australia would vote to join USA

              • +1

@John Barosa: Could be because our super funds value in the trillions and doesn’t want to disrupt us investing more and more of it in USA’s markets.

                • @hornbill: Damnnnnn. And Canada has no investments in America? Dumbass country.

  • I find the paramount and 50% off discount NBN are better than this at Origin

  • Look at the rates. Luckily mine is technically simple. I add in a few prompts to ChatGPT to find which is technically cheaper on my last bill usage.

    I said to ChatGPT

"can I please get the total amount charged for electricity if:

My total usage is 1100 kwh

    Company 1:
Daily charge: 104.335 cents a day
    Usage: 34.155 c/kWh

    Company 2
Daily charge: 95.06 cents a day
    Usage: 36.45 c/kWh"

    Answer I got:

    ✅ Final Summary (Quarterly - 90 days):
    Company 1: $469.61

    Company 2: $486.50

🟩 Company 1 is cheaper by: $16.89 over the quarter.

So yeah, I'll be comparing alot more companies, and taking in first bill credits if need be

It's probably quicker to just type into a calculator:

      (1100 x 34.155 + 90 x 104.335) / 100 =

      to get the result 469.61

and then type into the calculator

      (1100 x 36.45 + 90 x 95.06) / 100 =

      to get the result 486.50

I had 7 companies to compare, to me chatGPT was easier and it will give you a nice little chart on who seems to be the cheapest.

        • You can also use https://www.energymadeeasy.gov.au/ and compare all the companies.

@tenpercent: I did go there, some companies have their rates to change on 10th (think it was ovo) and one said it may change on 1st august (sumo), so you really have to really see all the details.

            • @hasher22: Where does it says rate change date?
So if we choose to switch to sumo, we will only enjoy the rate for a month now?

              • +1

@Shad: I called Sumo because their rates are really cheap for me and I was so sus about it. Those "too good to be true" scenarios.

The rep said their rates may change on 1st August to customers as they received internal intel that rates are changing and some customers may have the same rate. He said I can sign up now and if my rates go up in the 2 weeks notice, then I can decide what to do if Sumo tends to be dearer.

          • @tenpercent: Not sure how it works but don't see all the companies. Also one it highlighted like sumo electricity, doesn't have any sign-up offer

  • I'm in the Ausgrid area and after crunching numbers (excluding sign up offers), Origin ended by being the cheapest for me. I had to transfer immediately as Dodo's updated pricing was wayyyy too expensive.

I'll definitely begin churning though sign up deals as they arise.
