Credit Card to Earn Qantas Points

Hi All,

I'm looking for a Qantas credit card that can get me another 60,000 points in the next 4 months. I've held Amex, NAB, ANZ, Westpac, and St George in the past 15 months. Does anyone know what the next best credit card that has reasonable annual fees and a minimum purchase to get the bonus points?

I am currently looking into the Bankwest Qantas Platinum card. However, it states that the bonus points would be credited within 7 months. Has anyone had experience with whether they will credit the point earlier?

Or is there another credit card that I could consider?

It is getting harder to get these points these days :(

Edit:
This Citi credit card seems to be promising. https://www1.citibank.com.au/credit-cards/citi-premier-qanta…. Does anyone know whether having NAB credit card before would invalidate the bonus?

Its also getting harder to be approved for cards for high churners. You've had 5 in 15 months! Thats pretty high.

    • How long do you wait between card applications now?

      • I don't. I am not a CC churner. Its been posted on a number of threads about how hard it has gotten and how people are getting declined.

I had the BW Qantas card previously. They didn't credit the points early.

The Qantas Premier Platinum card could work but IMO its value is atrocious.

The CIti Premier card should work for you. I had a Citi Premier card before while holding a NAB Prestige card. No issues with getting the bonus.

Qantas hit by cyberattack, six million customers' data potentially compromised

Better keep an eye on those points!

Apparently it doesn't impact FF accounts.

    Comes with free data breach

Qantas Points are rubbish - good luck using them for anything of decent value.

Found out the hard way with $1400 in "carrier charges" when flying with Emirates. Normal taxes are in the vicinity of $300

        that's well known with emirates.

still value out there, just need to find the flights.

I do find it funny how its just accepted whne in reality theyre taking the piss whilst all the other airlines charge fees in line with taxes

No. I previously closed a NAB card in Oct24. Applied for Citi on Jan25 and still got the points.

  • Thanks for all the input. Although it costs ~300++ I decided to go ahead with Citibank and have received the initial approval.

im in the same boat and citi is the only one i can apply for given the new 18-24 month period most banks are applying but im thinking of churning to a velocity card when waiting to qualify for a new qantas card after this citi one

    St George - closed 15/2/23
    NAB - closed 15/8/23 - 18 months
    ANZ - closed 9/12/23
    Westpac - closed 14/2/24 - 24 months
    St George - closed 15/5/24 - 24 months
    Qantas premier - closed 20/7/24
CBA Smart Awards - closed 4/10/24
    ANZ cash back - closed 15/12/24 - 24 months
    ANZ black - closed 24/04/25 - 24 months
    NAB - closed 16/7/25

    • update - got rejected by citi lol

so went for bankwest 60k points for 7.5k spend which is terrible but this and qantas premier are all i have left to apply for plus they approved me already and qantas is only 50k points

gonna do velocity cards after this

      • Thats also my plan, tho as I started looking into which velocity card to apply, they seem to fall under the same waiting period if youve held their Qantas card. What’s your plan?
