Added later: Ult Field 1 (Flip 6 alternative) for $84.31 Lnk: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/286162027011

Use SONYEOFY15 for extra 15% off (auto applied for me) also try JUL2025 $10 off $100 spend (making it $88.28), but because 15% off makes it below $100 not sure if it will apply.

can't claim ATL because both are refurbs.
I have seen the smaller XE200 as low as $85 on Amazon AU.

the XE 300 is the bigger version, for only $14 more. I read comments saying Sony eBay refurb are often just box damage and tested before selling.

I heard both these speakers in the store. they seem a bit muffled in sound, but you can EQ the high to +9 and they sound ok at higher volume.
XE200 was a bit bass light, but this bigger 300 version should sound ok in bass close to the wall with some EQ.

  • Geez Sony sure has a lot of “refurbished “ items for sale often.

    • I noticed they also had their brand new Linkbuds Speaker on refurb soon after release.

which means they are overpriced and not selling at all imo. they want to get a few out there at refurb prices. $180 for refurb Linkbuds speaker still way too high imo. it's basically a UE Wonderboom but with the ability to pass off audio automatically to earbuds and speaker.

      • Their products are overpriced for what they are.

My XM3 headphones can be repaired with replacement parts 1/10 in total of the price of the newer models and it’s like brand new again but more than does the job.

        • Their products are overpriced for what they are.

always has been the case. at least ime with modern sony products (I don't have any experience with their old stuff like vintage).

and quality fell off during covid. they had to source poor quality tiny batteries for their WF XM5 TWS earbuds. so many complaints of one side dying soon after purchase on reddit. it was later revealed they couldn't source their original batteries so put cheap ones in them.
unacceptable for flagship XM5 product. and imagine what they are putting in their entry models.

newer lower tier ANC headphones also having issues. well breaking hinges was already common on WH XM5. but whatever recycled plastic they started using in recently in their cheaper headphones meant they also break. my ULT WEAR (X bass) headphones just split open at the hinge (when buying I thought I'm careful so it will likely not happen to me - but nope just gentle use and I put one earcup behind my left ear one day, and I noticed it felt off, it just came apart).

I am the type to fix things though, everything else works fine so I just glue it back I've done it a lot so I know how to keep the rotating earcup function. but yeah I paid like $200 for them on sale, didn't expect the plastic to crack and break after 8 months. (another issue on this model is the earpads breaking down quickly. I thought I will be fine because wash my face often not that greasy, but after 8 months there are a lot of dark micro cracks in the earpads I can see them coming apart in 12+ months).

        • I think I wasn't fair mentioning all the negatives above.

tbh Sony still gets some things right. like the electronics and battery life and BT connection quality.
even on "Sound quality priority" the bluetooth has the best range. so you can even extend that by selecting "Connection quality priority" in the app, but I have never had to. Multipoint also always works as you expect.
I don't have experience with stereo pairing, but I read a lot of comments saying stereo pair distance is also great on sony, so you can spread the speakers further apart, or even sometimes have them in different rooms.
on some BT speakers like even UE if you spread them too far you start to get dropouts and slight delay issues, which maybe some people can't hear but if you can it's annoying.

battery life long term also pretty good for anything Sony with a bigger battery in it. often times in hours of use irl it does better than the specs in user manual.
for their bluetooth speakers you can limit charge in the app to 90% which greatly extends the long term use of the speaker. instead of having a dead battery after 2~3 years. it will continue to work 4~5 years later due to better battery health.

but yes biggest downside recently for their wearables is, the drop in quality for the premium price you are paying. which matters the most on ozb I assume.
my ULT WEAR still works as new after glueing btw. but even with the correct type of glue, I think in a years time I will probably have to carefully apply it again.

also tbf I just recently saw photos of quest headsets with snapped off hinge. 😭🙏

  • sorry mods couldn't find any quantity on the page.

  • Out of stock. Can’t report as “content already moderated.”

    • +1

at time of posting there was one more colour for like ~$10 more. light blue I think, which might have stacked 15% off + $10 off $100 because it would be over $100 after 15% off.

looks like they bumped the price now.

      • No stress! Thanks for sharing to the OzB community!!

        • ULT Field 1 also pretty awesome price. it's $127 brand new on Amazon AU right now.

just noticed if you have eBay plus you can knock another $5 off the price ($79 ish).

read a few comments saying they rate it higher than JBL Flip. one of the rarer recent sony speakers which sounds good. at 650g quite a bit smaller than the 1.3kg XE300 though. 🙂

  • there has been 1 black one left with 15% off SONYEOFY15 code for a few days now. if anyone interested.
