Someone did this a few years ago so I thought I'd do it again, I'll answer all your questions to the best of my ability

how to get beyond than just pricematch, can we get JB to price beat like ofice works?
That's kind of on a case by case basis, depends just how low we can actually go, which changes depending on the item, so I cant really give you a concrete answer, you could try talking to a salesperson and seeing how much they might be able to take off. Most salespeople and managers usually wont price beat as it's not really our policy
What is your favourite pizza topping?
This one might be controversial…. Pineapple 🍍
Should be a law against fruit pizza.
Tomato
why do most staff (in my experience) get agitated when asking for a price match as if the difference is coming from their paycheque?
I'm not too sure, must just be some pretty pissed off people ig, don't see why they would be mad at a price match
Why can't in-store, price-match or price-beat or offer discounts the same as online chat?
I needed speakers and online gave me a $40 discount which was nice if I purchased it online and pick it up at a store which had stock. But that store was 40 mins away, my local store which is 5 mins away had it in stock BUT online wouldn't let me select pick up from that store. So I called the store saying online gave me a discount but it's too far for me to pick up at X store, rep said if their store isn't online to pick up, it's not in-stock. I said online stock counter says they have it in stock, he paused for 3 seconds and I said can you check? And he came back saying he does have a few in-stock but can't give me the discount…… I'm like ok…. whatever.
That's odd, at my store, if you've gotten a deal with the online team we'll always honor it, as for giving discounts, it really does vary, I don't know too much about the online team but I'd assume they have more room to work with pricing wise and they're most likely being overseen less directly, but again, just assumptions, in store we usually have to get the managers opinion if it's a considerable discount, but yeah that situation is really odd, I'd definitely honor that
What exactly has JB done again? This is a mystery.
You've done it again!!
I heard recently that the signs/shelf tags are no longer hand drawn, and instead just printed to look hand drawn (and I can't say I've bothered to look closely enough to verify). Is that true?
I actually worked at JB 15 years ago and as someone with zero artistic skill, I hated being tapped on the shoulder to do any signs.
Some of them are, but a lot of the time they are hand drawn
Why is your warranty procedure so difficult? Everytime I bring something in it's always "Oh we'll have to send it off for like 2 weeks and you'll be contacted regarding what the service place says".
Surely someone on site can determine that a digital camera obviously doesn't turn on, is in warranty, and can provide the original invoice. Refund or replace the unit on the spot, then go claim warranty with the manufacter afterwards.
It should be similar to the warranty process on a car battery. The battery is in warranty, and the on the spot test shows it's fully charged but outputs an unacceptable CCA output. The battery is replaced on the spot, and the shop claims warranty on the battery manufacter later. None of that "Oh we'll send your battery away for testing and you'll hear back in 5-7 business days"
Like a majority of the things here, it kind of varies from store to store, I'll always test items on the spot because it's standard procedure, but sometimes it gets a bit difficult when there's some items that are slightly hard to diagnose or test, like earbuds for example, we cant really test them on the spot because of hygiene reasons, if it's obvious like it's not outputting sound, then I'll process it, we cant really choose what outcome you get really, it's a program where you input all the info and it gives you possible options to give to the customer
What's the lowest price you can do on the JBL PartyBox 710?

What profit margin does the company make on laptops?
I'm not too sure exactly, sorry
I loved working at JB back in the day, but my sales mgr kept reaming us IT sales guys to push SmartWay, Telstra plans, device insure, extended warranties…oh and did I mention SmartWay? Regardless of hitting my weekly sales target week in week out, and averaging more than 2 items per docket, I bailed, and so did the other 3 sales guys. So in short, what are your kpi metrics like nowadays?
KPI's are kinda just like you said, 2 items per docket and your budget, we try and sell warranties a bit but it's not really forced a lot to be honest, seems like its a lot more laid back compared to when you were working there:), also wth is smartway, tried looking it up but no luck
Yeah SmartWay doesn't exist anymore thank goodness. It was a lease agreement over 12/24/36 months…heaps of kick backs/spivs involved but ripped off customers who didn't understand it and you ended up paying much more at the end of your term, while of course, not owning the product.
how often the product price changes? Is it daily, every 2 days, 3 days, once a week so on?
Prices fluctuate all the time, there isn't a set time
How brazen are organized shop lifting gangs now in retail
very, it's quite shocking really
care to share your experiences at JB-Hifi, for those of us who don't have to experience the worst of humanity
If a customer has 4 or 5 vinyl records & asks for a better price, will you give a better price on those records?
I usually would yeah, especially considering the price of most vinyl's nowadays
That's good to hear because I've gone into a few JB stores and they've refused to give me a better price on a stack of records for various reasons like "We can't discount the records because that would be discounting the artists music" to "No we don't discount records because they're a "hard purchase" & we can't send them back" to my favourite "It's because JB has to pay higher rates of shipping fees from overseas".
So just to clarify with you, there isn't a "no discounts on vinyl" policy is there?
What is the expected sales target and hours of a worker before they find them disposable?
Is it true that you can get better price on large ticket items on last few days of the month if you bargain because both store and sales staff needs to achieve their budget targets?
Yes. Or on the weekend when the full timers had to hit big sale numbers to make budget.
I am after a multipurpose soundbar (for tv and bluetooth music in general).. which model/s do you recommend based on what sells the best at JB, OP?
What’s the background story on staffing process at JBhifi?
It appears the stereotype is true in all (if not most) JBhifi locations. The staff are either the tattooed, the heavily pierced, the hippy high kind or a mix of the above.
It can’t be a coincidence that’s an ongoing theme in jbhifi stores.
I think it attracts just a certain type based on history, culture and the type of items JB sells. When I worked there most of us didn't fit the "stereotype" but I guess if you have tattoos and piercings you tend to stand out and everyone thinks that's the norm.

What is the extended warranty meant to cover on headphones? I bought it for some headphones and when they had a problem found out there's not really anything it can cover on headphones? The hinge broke, the only moving part. But somehow it didnt count as acceptable wear and tear, but then what actually is?
if the price goes down, how many days to get the money back?
30 days
Last Sunday JB was pricematching a Google TV streamer which was on sale at HN. Thought it was EOFY and that Id walk into a store on Monday 30th to pick but it expired Sunday night. Do you think there is anyway JB would price match something a few days after sale elsewhere? Im guessing no but read somewhere on reddit that there is some hidden 7 day price match policy/ manager descretion or so.
Id reckon with something like that it's down to the manager 😔
can i return ps5 games? i have receipt + the case etc.
Yeah, np 😃
Return even if it's open?
there are no refund on software and games. it has happened in the past but generally not.
this guy must be new.
My opinion of JB Hifi today is basically this: they set higher prices and let the customer work out the best price in the market to do a price match or pay the higher price. More often than not, JB gets away selling at higher than actual market price (Profiteering) because the customer, may not have been able to find the right price (due to reasons like complacency) or may be unaware to research prices to ask for a match. Do you agree?
Why the only monitors on display in every JB HiFi (or any other computer store) are limited to budget options? I'd think people are quite interested in 34" inch and up ultrawides and super ultrawides, but you can't find them on display anywhere.
My local JB has had the Dell Ultrawide OLED on display for a while. Probably depends on each store.
when are you guys dropping the Pokémon 151 upc
Do you ever feel sorry for people who don't negotiate the price, knowing that if they would just ask that you would offer them a bit of a discount?
I always try to let them know that I can bring down the price whenever I can :)
is the drug policy at your store also "as long as it doesnt effect your work"? legit had coworkers on hard drugs most days
What would you say are your biggest sales every year so I could wait until they come around?
How many face tattoos do you have? /s
I've always wondered if JB HI FI only hire people that gives off certain vibes like goth and hippie because i've never seen an ordinary one working there.
Compare the employees there to any of the retail stores and you will know what i'm talking about.
What price can you get for Samsung phones?.
ask me any question about working at JB and i'll give you the uncensored version.

I think that's a sign that you're a good customer service rep, that you were able to build such a connection with that person!
I was buying appliances for my new home, this rep gave me good deals and when I had issues with delivery - due to no fault of his - he followed up with me and helped resolved the delivery issues so that I finally got my goods. I took chocolates and a card after because I was so thankful. To this day, if I need something from JB I go to that rep who still remembers me and gives me a good deal every time.
