Wonder if this will be yet another "whoopsie we made a mistake it's refund time" by 4wdsupacentre again.

    • +2

Unlikely if the deal is on the website.

    • +9

I found they aren't that polite during the refund process

      • lol

  • +4

    Wow batteries getting CHEAP

  • These are the older tech batteries. Nothing wrong with em

    • +2

Whats old tech and what's new tech?

      • Old tech is pouch cells. New tech is prismatic cells.
        Prismatic is more durable

        • +2

But there are Pros and Cons for both still.

Also in the spec list it does say Prismatic Cells (mentioned on website, not ebay from what I see).

There have been a few changes/variants to both the Kings 100Ah and 120Ah models

over time I believe (from reviewers opening them up on YouTube).

    • +1

I've heard that the 100AH now have prismatic cells. Or can you tell which 100AH has prismatic vs pouch cells?

      • It says so on the battery and I reckon it would be pretty silly of kings to label incorrectly given how many people like to disassemble them.

    • This teardown suggests the newer version is prismatic (not clear if this sale is those, though). Not impressed by the use of a strap around the middle, this is considered a no-no by people who assemble batt packs themselves. But otherwise looks reasonable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PQPjVaE5B8s I wonder what @FLICKIT or @Igaf think of these..

  • Website says 9.7kg not 14.5kg

    • +1

      Says both so not sure

      • +1

I have one and it is around 10kg when weighed on our bathroom scales. Actually very happy with it after 13 months of use and careful charging between camping trips.

    1 year warranty
That's a joke. They don't have any faith in them lasting!

    • +10

I wouldn’t have faith in the general public keeping their batteries charged to correct levels haha

    • +1

The 200Ah Battery has 3 years of warranty. I wonder why the big difference?

  • +1

I use one of these for my Minn Kota 55lb electric motor. Can't fault it.

    • +1

Is it closer to 9.7 kg than 14.5 kg ?

      • +1

I don't remove the battery often, but from memory it would be closer to 10kg than 15kg.

        • Yeah thanks, thought so.

    • my trolling motor batteries recently died ( well one of them) so was thinking to replace with these…. how long has yours lasted if i may ask? i need two for 24v .

do they respond well to constant trickle charge to maintain battery life?

      • @Khunaus

Can't use these to make 24v.

I ended up buying one of these for my motorguide, and it's been working perfectly. Haven't had an issue with the lower amps. It's also great to be able to keep an eye out it with the bluetooth and use bugger all power anyway.

Pulling 70 kg of batteries out and replacing them with a single 15kg battery was great too.

          The specs state:

          | Allowed Batteries Connected in Series Bank (Same Batch): 4

          • +1

@eciuj: Yeah, my bad. Sorry, when I was looking into it you couldn't do it at the time.

            • @Calmago: Yeah, that's possible as they have changed the parts of these over the years. Is yours really 15 kg?

      • +1

I've had it 10 months. Can't help with trickle charge as I just bulk charge after a few trips.

    • Is it one with spotlock? I bought one to run my 65lb figuring it'll be OK replacing a 120ah AGM so should be able to use close to the full 100ah vs maybe 60 of the 120. Do you get a decent amount of use out of a charge?

      • Yep, the 55lb Terrova, which I use for spot locking and trolling. I charge it after a few trips thinking it’ll be getting pretty low but I don’t think I’ve ever had to charge more than half (I have a Victron charger so can check the charge stats). I don’t really frequent high current areas, so motor probably doesn’t have to work too hard. I’ve just picked up a Kings 12V travel oven but it’s only 120W so would only use 10ah.

    Order confirmed on eBay, thanks!

  • What would you use this for?

    • +8

i carry it in my backpack on the train with a dc to dc charger to power my mobile phone.

    • +3

Most likely scenario is for RV/4WD/Boating, where you have solar panels, controller and inverter to power a small fridge, lights and laptop.
Or it could be used for a shed for 12v lights, with solar panels on the roof and a controller mounted on the wall.

For a household, probably less practical unless you buy a fair number of them and have a decent solar array, in which case you would probably look at getting a Tesla Wall unit instead.

      • +3

I use two of a different brand connected to a 24v 2200w inverter through the transfer switch on my house for power outages
Can get through a full day running fridge freezers internet lights

        • Do you have to manually switch them over?

          • +1

@Arnor: Yeah through a manual transfer switch

Usually for a generator input but works with this setup

      • Tesla powerwall is more expensive per kWh than this anyway.

  • +1

These 100ah batteries fit into XTM battery boxes running for $55 at the moment from BCF and SuperCheap which IMO are nicer than the Kings ones.

    • I had a look inside the top of my kings battery box and it's bordering on dangerous heh. I'm going direct to battery terminals for high draw now.

  • Anyone in Sydney want to go half for 1? Can buy with the $30 code. 1 each for $184.5

    • Interested in the 120ah one - also have a deal 2 for $599 - not sure about ebay extra discount though

      • It has a $50 off

Comes down to 274.5 for 120AH.

A single 100AH is a better deal at 184.5 each
