Where to Buy Li-Ion Batteries (14650)?

Hair clippers have died, need to source some rechargeable li-ion flat top 14650 3.7v batteries preferably with solder tabs, aliexpress is too long for delivery & amazon wants $50 for one.

  • You will have more luck finding a 14500 locally. i.e AA-sized. 14650 is rare.

    • yeah, 14500 Bunnings Solar Magic Lithium 14500 3.2V Rechargeable Battery - 2 Pack $13.63

      • Sadly, that will not work. It is a different chemistry, LiFPO4 .

  • How attached are you to the existing clippers? Are they are quality brand/keeper?
Honestly think it will be cheaper & quicker to buy another set of clippers.
That size doesn't seem as common as the other sizes that pop up on searches. You might be able to muscle 18650 size in, at your own risk.(modify where the top tabs solder on, in the housing)

    • yeah the 18650 won't fit considered 14500 but trying to find a highish capacity was the issue. They are excellent clippers & preference is to replace batteries rather than a new set cheers for your help

Buy some cheapies in the interim, (maybe even 240V ones) and create space to wait for the 14650's?, or grow your mane, and still wait?

  • This aliexpress listing looks identical. There's a few other listing that have different coverings.

    • yes but delivery September unfortunately thanks

  • I was in a bind sort of like you; misplaced charging cable and hair is getting too long, so got this to tide me over until I find the charging cable. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/912614

14500's and some hot glue. Tabbed 14500 can be picked up from Jaycar.

Or Just get it from AliExpress and just wait an extra week to manscape that taint.

    • Much more than a week. Batteries get slow-shipped, no "Choice". Could be 2 months, like the old days.

      • I buy plenty of flat Li-Ion pouch type batteries for different projects (ie: 803048) and have no issues with getting them in about a week or so. That being said, some sellers may care more than the ones I use about what does and doesnt go on air freight.

        • will keep looking, got any kinks / sellers you can recommend? have had a good search on ali

      • that's the issue, haven't found any for fast delivery, could be as late as september
