    Li-Po, for anyone who's wondering.

Personal opinion, Li-Ion should be the minimum standard for safety.
I've moved onto explicitly LiFePo4 cells these days so they're non flammable.
Too many close calls from friends finding them puffed or smoking in bags or hot cars (which they shouldn't be left in, but we're human….)

      r/spicypillows

      • Yep. As a self confessed battery nerd, USUALLY spicy pillows aren't actually a problem, because they happen due to discharge.
Even if you pop 'em, they just hiss, because the stored energy is so low, they have enough thermal mass to stay cold. (people just panic and enjoy the hypoerbole)
Powerbanks however are usually stored full, so…. much potential energy in there….

    • Agree, but is there a comparable battery running LiFePo4 ?

      • +1

Yes, the ChargeCore SafeCharge Max range, however they're not at this price.

Being a LASER product though, they go on sale very often.

        • As far as i'm aware, almost every pocket-size power bank uses Li-Po. It’s thinner, lighter and cheaper than LiFePo4. LiFePo4 is technically safer but bulkier and costs more, so you rarely see it outside larger power stations. I am not aware of any 10000mAh LifePO4 power bank anywhere near this price range.

          • @moesta: All of mine are cylindrical LiIon, and my newest ones are LiFePo4.

            I have 3 lifepo4 banks, a 5k, 10k and 20k.

Though correct, they're more expensive, but i like the safety and LiFe cells remain good for more cycles; so the cost over time brings them more in line.

Expect a flood of these battery packs since most of them are banned on flights in china.

    • You think Chinese's airlines will comply the laws?

      • I've always found Chinese airlines very strict with rules. In saying that the airlines aren't the one checking this, its Chinese airport security, and they have been checking all powerbanks to ensure they're <100Wh for years. There's always piles of confiscated powerbanks at every security checkpoint in all Chinese airports.

I think Airlines in general would comply with the laws. What on earth makes you think that Chinese airlines are any exception? If anything data shows western airlines are worse with this

      • its the bag security check at the airport the checking will be done if your power bank is allowed or not
        not the individual airline company
on the news its say if you fly domestic flight, your power bank must have the CCC mark
I'm just not sure about international flight that only transiting or have long layover flight

    • China’s new rule only bans power banks without a valid 3C (CCC) mark. Certified units under 100 Wh are still allowed in carry-on. This one has the CCC logo and is 37 Wh, so it passes the flight check. This is a photo of the product showing it is CCC compliant: https://ibb.co/bgqFFnfb
