I edited the post to make it more clear.
”Element iQ system's algorithms steer power to where and when it's needed”
wtf?!
At least they didn’t say it was AI doing some fancy things to make your pizza
Agree. Everything's got AI on its product name these days
PizzAIolo
87 percent correct
Bit like 'smart' rice cookers. I have doubts
It's very smart, when the oven is not hot it steers the power into the element to heat the oven which, due to the very high IQ, it determines is where it is needed.
Absolute ground breaking IQ for an oven, might even have a higher IQ than the marketing monkey who came up with that slop.
Great machine, I’ve had mine a few years now.
How long does it take to heat up for your first pizza?
15-20 mins for Neapolitan setting
This thing cooks. When a rogue olive falls off the pizza it is vaporised to ash,
Wtf is going on in the last image lol. Did they put the whole oven inside a wood fired one?
Yeh it’s to imply that you get the same result from a wood fired oven with an appliance that is a lot smaller
Yeh this uses radiant heat from a pizza oven to cook the pizza in the breville oven
Tell us more about how you cook pizzas at 400 degrees in your regular oven.
The only way to do that is to get a pyrolytic and to break the locking mechanism, however that's not really an appealing solution to the average person who wants to cook pizzas at high temp
Lol. All the negatives. Looks like I've upset the pizza equivalent of Elon Musk's fan boi's
More like you've never made or tasted a good pizza. Just stick to your McCains frozen ones.
If you have the Amex $50 Cashback offer and RACV Breville 20% off code it will also come down to $589.20 from Breville with free delivery. Mine got shipped the day after I ordered and arrived less than 24 hours later after (FedEx ftw).
But combine the JB purchase with 10% gift cards can bring it down to $540
Even better! Breville worked for me since this deal didn't exist when I bought it.
fyi Breville state this is not suitable for steaks (or anything else with fat splatter).
No meat lovers for u
I guess I can understand buying this if you live in an apartment but IMHO you'd be crazy to spend that much on this when you can get an Ooni or Ooni knockoff for not much more.
Apart from anything else 400C is barely enough for neapolitan pizza, whereas an Ooni can hit 500 if required.
Keep in mind this one is electric so you can put it on your kitchen countertop. The equivalent Ooni Volt is $1500 and has a slightly higher temperature at 450C and more even heating but… I haven't seen it go below $1000 anywhere.
@amberstyre I don’t think I would want to cook pizzas inside in something that reaches 400 degrees celsius that sits on the kitchen bench.
Ours sits near a window for the smoke and the bench underneath is cool to the touch. This thing is fantastic. Having all the ingredients inside prepared right next to the oven is awesome. The worst part is once you're done cooking it keeps it's internal fan on for like 10 minutes and it is LOUD.
That's… basically restating what I said, if you have no choice but inside, this makes sense, otherwise why wouldn't you get a gas/wood fired one for $200-700 depending on what you get?
I have a house with lots of backyard space, but no patio area. Was looking at getting a gas/wood one but the practicality of using it was not very high especially now in winter when its 10C outside and raining more often than not.
So, this electric countertop one is perfect for what I need. In fact I just popped out 4 pizzas in under an hour for dinner tonight (not counting the dough making time) - 20 min to heat up, 2 min each to cook a pizza. Turned it off, then just need to wipe clean later. No need to worry about gas bottles or buying wood. Pizzas made are on par with my mate's who uses a gas ooni. Also no need to keep walking in and out of the house each time to put the pizzas in the oven which is what he does.
Everyone has a different use case.
@caitsith01 Apartment living doesn’t have to mean you’re restricted to a product like this indoor electric Breville pizza oven. I have a Kamado Joe charcoal BBQ on my apartment balcony which is what I use to cook pizzas when I make them.
Sure, fair enough! I would love a Kamado Joe, do you like it?
I have this and it is brilliant as are the pizzas. I live in a biggish house with a Weber 5 burner outside. I also have a Weber 52cm kettle which is in the shed. I cannot use these appliances in the wind and rain. If I had an Ooni, it wouldn't get used in adverse weather. However, my Pizzaiolo gets used in any weather. You are not invited to taste the circular delights!
This chews power like it’s going out of fashion…
And power is no bargain these days.
What sort of power does it use to heat up and cook 2 pizza for example?
It only draws 2.4KW - way way way less than your regular oven.
If you run it for an hour long pizza session like the guy further up then it's going to chew through an entire dollar of electricity. An entire dollar.
that's far better, I have to pre-heat my oven for an hour to get my steel hot enough to even start cooking.
This or the Jumbuck Pizza Oven from bunnings?
https://www.bunnings.com.au/jumbuck-portable-pizza-oven_p043…
I got the Jumbuck a few months ago. Need to buy a gas cylinder so that's another $99. I'm finding now the weather is colder it's taking up to 45 mins on max flame to heat up enough. I am getting some good pizzas but there's a very fine line between cooked and burnt. I'd love to try the Breville electric one, see if the heat is distributed a bit more evenly. But the grass is always greener I guess.
This thing rocks been using my someone else's for the past year and pulled the trigger a higher price so easy to go over to other people's houses and cook with this I do out door mainly it can be a little smokey last edit I'm 200 pizzas in so far.
do you need to spin the pizza mid cook?
no
unless you tried to fit a massive size pizza dough in and its touching the window like 350 gram pizza dough lol
Can you cook pizza's back to back or does it need time to recover?
once it heats up to temperature (about 20 mins for highest setting), I find I can cook a pizza in the 2 mins, and it takes about 1 minute after for it to reach the desired temp again. It will beep again to let you know it's back up to temperature too. I guess opening the door to eject the pizza cause it to lose enough heat that it needs to reheat a bit again.
Cheers for the info!
I think Ooni and others have nailed the home making pizza market, so these aren’t really that desirable anymore, unless you can’t have an Ooni outside.
Quality of Breville appliances is terrible
Is this that thing from Back to the Future 2
I've never heard of that, but it looks a bit like the pizza oven I used to have.
Ok grandpa, back to the news.com.au comment section with you. The bad renewables can't hurt you aaaany more.
'newables are baaad! Dhey took er jerbs!!!!!
2350w @ say 35c/kwh is $1.65 for two hours in which you could probably cook 4 or 5 pizzas, more if you've got help. >50c a pizza seems OK to me, would take a long time to amortise the cost of building a wood oven even if you got the firewood free
How could you seriously afford to run this
It's free to run your appliances between 11am and 2pm if you're with OVO. Thanks to the proliferation of renewables like Solar, we don't pay anything for power when we cook pizzas for lunch.
off the renewables scam in Albo's Australia?
The one that gives us free power for 3 hours a day ?
Or are you talking about the one that is currently subsidising home batteries to give you free power at any time ?
Weird complaint 🤷
The ALDI electric pizza oven heats to 400⁰C and sold for $150. Not sure how much better this would be at 3x$+
Makes great pizza IMO.
I think the aldi oven was 249, I got mine on clearance for a little less. Agreed tho, I imagine the Breville is better but not that much better.
Man this oven looks fantastic.
FWIW I own one of these, the aldi sterling pizza oven and the cuisine art pizza oven.
This thing is a beast but it’s a little impractical as it’s very small and any pizza you make a few centimeters too big is destroyed to ash lol. It’s great but impractical
The cuisineart oven is crap I don’t recommend it to anyone. Top element is weak and the fan stays on forever after.
The Aldi oven man is the bomb. Super hot, good access it’s amazing.
Yeah I was initially keen on one of these, but the aldi oven I got for around $200 is so good I've kinda lost interest, given the enormous price discrepancy
The new electric Hizo model from Kegland looks very well featured for a $599 RRP, including getting to 450c.
They're also running a promotion where a social media video review gets you a $200 store credit to spend on accessories or supplies eg flour.
Not an owner but seriously considering for my next oven, and thought it would be good to throw in as an option.
For all those wondering, there is a Chef sitting inside.
Have been waiting since the day the Breville came out for a good deal, but spent so much time comparing it to the Ziola that comes out next month that I missed the deal. And I happened to have a bunch of JB gift cards to use up too. Very sad.
If any mods are watching, I'd love it if there was a big red "2 hours remaining!" etc. when the deal is close to expiring.
What perks 20% off?
