Weeride Bicycle Seat $98.99 at Costco - Less Than Half Price

90

I saw these at Costco last week but did not know if it was a bargain or not (been a while since I shopped for this) They had heaps in stock. Just noticed a previous OP link to the Loaded Trolley blog that has the info - refer the link.

I have used one before and they are great for 1-3 year old kids. Though, I think they work better on longer bikes rather that shorter mountain bikes due to knee clearance. Was too tight previously to spend over $200, but at this price may grab one myself. I don't remember them ever being this cheap!

For non Costco members, it is $60 joining fee, but cancel anytime in the 12 months and get 100% of the fee back.

A lot cheaper than the previous deal on OzB…

Oh, I should add, this is the deluxe version not the standard version!

  • I have a WeeRide seat which I bought in 2010, for $89 in Canada.

These seats a really good. My daughter is now four and a half, she still rides with me.

I feel very safe as she is in-between my arms. She has has a great view, and a padded arm rest to rest on.

Looks like the Australian RRP for this product is really high.

  • Sorry, deleted duplicate entry.

  • Works out $98.52 delivered on Amazon.
Good price for local stock if you have a Costco.

    • Amazon doesn't allow you to ship the Weeride to Australia.

  • Much better position for a child, than the traditional ones over the back wheel.
Four factors that I can see already:

    1) You can see your child without having to look backwards while riding.
    2) No moving parts like wheels and chains anywhere near them.
    3) Less jarring and better stability. From a physics point of view, you get a lot of jolting up through the rear axle directly up into the baby seat. With a more central position closer to the front axle (which more often than not has shocks on it these days), and a better position closer to the centre of gravity, you have better stability.
    4) Safer position. You got no way of protecting the little one if you happen to take a fall on the bike with them mounted behind you. At least in the middle there's more protection from your own body (although from that angle you'd still want a safety helmet for the baby because even stationary its quite a fall from that height if you think of the sideways falling speed).

    Good product, great price!

(safest option is still a baby trailer by far btw… but if you dont want one of them, this is your 2nd best bet for baby transport).

  • Whilst this option seems safer… Front riding is actually the most dangerous. Trailrs are safer for your average spill but are below car eye leveland you also run the risk of flipping if you hit a curbas they are wider.

  • only about $25 more than a bike shop should sell these for, the old shop I worked at sold them for $124.95

    • Where was that??

    • Are you sure it was the deluxe version. There is also a standard version that was cheaper ($125 approx) in bike stores.
