  • I'd say don't do it, such an old sensor went into this. but for someone might be a great step into full frame photography if that's what you want to do. Nikon has awesome inexpensive 1.8 S primes to choose from (35mm, 50mm, 85mm) they are exceptional and cheap compared to pro grade primes on other full frame camera systems. results won't disappoint

although at this point I'd say you'd get better images from crop sensor on Z50 mk ii..

Z5 mk ii would be an awesome camera so much more advanced than this, and better than Z6 mk ii. was around 2k on recent sales, maybe better to just get that and you won't need to upgrade for a few years if not longer..

    • to add to this I shot Z6 for 1.5 years, and even in studio, shooting 85 1.8 and 35 1.8 primes there was a lot missed focus using Eye AF. so expect even worse performance from Z5

otherwise this is still a lot of camera for the price.

also Z5 doesn't take a proper battery grip if that's important to you. MB-10N does work but it has no controls on it, not even a shutter button. it's a dumb grip

I've had one since 2021 (was around $1200) and it's a great camera, if the limited video options and average AF don't bother you.

The 24-70 f4 is fantastic for a "kit" lens and often quite affordable. I use it for hiking/travel photography, and the reasonable size and weight, full weather sealing, nice ergonomics, big oled viewfinder and ibis make it lovely for that.

It is an older model now though, and there are plenty of competitive alternatives. Shame the price has only gone up, but that's been the way of things.
