I feel like this needs to be its own price. Says it's part of the one-day deals but looks like it ends tomorrow night.

$989 delivered from Amazon using the $10 eligible card codes.

be careful with this phone when you get this, some people have cut themselves on the "Edge" :D

  • +6

Well that was fast. Went from 1999 to 999

    • +15

Yeah - Samsung thought the consumers are stupid - but unfortunately (for Samsung) thats not true

      • super cost cut phone, but dont know how much did they have to invest on the rnd~

    • +16

I think this proves people have no interest in thinner phones with the trade offs on smaller battery and less camera sensors.

      • +5

I'm keen for a thicker phone still with premium features and not so fragile. I would prefer I didn't have to put it in a case to protect it from day 1. Does anyone even care about how nice it is out of a case these days?

    • +9

Wow, just proves what I believe, mobile phones are so over priced for what they are and how quickly they depreciate in value.

$2000.00 for a phone, made of gold is it?

      • +1

Nah its just this model halving

  • What is edge supposed to be?
Is it the new + versions

    • +4

It's supposed to be a showcase of how thin and light Samsung can make flagship phones.

    • -2

No, it's a new line of "ultra slim" phones in response to Apple announcing it. So of course Samsung had to follow.

      • +2

Will be interesting to see if Apple bother launching now

      • +6

Yet somehow producing and getting it onto the market months before Apple could.

      • No. If Apple can iFool, Samsug can do with better value ;)

      • How is it in response when Samsung released their phone first?

        • Release first =/= announced first. Apple announced it first. Samsung quickly took action and released a half-baked product just to "get ahead." I say half-baked because it is literally a Frankenstein of features across the S25 lines (like battery of S25, camera of U, screen of Plus). Like, okay bro

  • Does anyone actually have one and can comment on their experience using it day to day?

    • +2

Not me, but you can just try it on the demo floors. Honestly just feels like a S20 5g (the base model). The S20 was actually very slim feeling

    • Look up some youtube reviews. I was looking at this but the trade off of battery life was a deal breaker for me.

Point reviewer made was because of the smaller battery as the battery degraded you would get less and less on time compared to 25+ or Ultra.

Nice looking and nice feeling in your hand phone. Now if they could only increase battery life in this phone i would buy it.

      • Yeah, it's not a real innovation when you literally just cut back on battery, which is what gives larger models like the + and the Ultra their larger batteries in the first place.

      • Yeah I've watched some reviews but was looking to see if anyone had actually bought one. It's such an odd product and I can't imagine who they thought the target user would be. I'd say most people would rather better battery life and the extra camera.

        • I bought one and like it more than I thought I would. Also had the s25 ultra but it was too heavy for me. Very little difference between the two other than weight. I thought I'd hate the battery but it's been fine.

      • Disappointing one is not using silicon carbide batteries for the edge

    • +1

      Got one from JB.

Very light and thin compared to other pro/max.

Just a couple of days, still exploring. UI is fluent, no complain. I have Samsung bud pro, smart tag and watch, all work well with it.

I am a light user, not gaming, so battery is good for me.

Main camera is good, same as S25 Ultra.

      • How long is the battery lasting for you? I'm a light user too and curious if it will last 2 days.

        • As I said, just got it two days, so cannot comment on it.

        • I'm a heavy user and it's been fine. Not amazing but not significantly worse than the ultra.

  • -5

Good. I hope this phone fails and causes Samsung to lose a bunch of money.

    Absolutely poor decision making.

    • +8

Has Samsung done something to you and your family? Why do you care if they lose money? 😂

      • +1

It's more as a market to stop the trend of reducing features on a phone and reduced battery life for the sake of thinness.

  • +3

S25 Ultra camera, S25+ display with base s25 battery, Si/C would've been perfect to debut with this model.

    • -1

Agreed, I am using a mobile with Si/C, 90W charging, 30w wireless and can't wait for Samsung to catch up.

  • +1

What’s the point when most people are gonna get a phone case anyway? 🤷‍♂️

    • With a case on, this one feels the same size as the full-fat model without a case.

I'm not saying it's a good justification, but that's effectively the result.

    • It's still super light with a case.

  • Is this worth the upgrade from an S22 Ultra?

  • Hoping to trade in my missus flip 3 which screen has karked it for one of these - is my best shot to do a trade in with samsung?

    • +2

Samsung trade-in is via Asurion, check what people say about them. Notorious for offering a good price initially but then reducing the trade-in value to $1 or another much lower value once they receive the phone and they have predatory trade-in contracts where if you don't agree with the valuation they still own it and don't need to send it back to you.

      • +4

        F*** asurion.
        Terrible experience with them.
Completely Incompetent. Took months to get my money for the trade in + $60 administration fee back.
        (I had everything right)

        • +2

I had the same experience as @Sapper50 trading in my z flip 4 to Asurion. It was still in perfect condition and got valued at $250 but once it was received they lowered it down to $60. Of course, I did not agree with their adjusted trade-in value and talking to their CS is like talking to a brick wall, they were unwilling to budge on the trade-in value.

Luckily, I took photos of my z flip 4 before sending it to Asurion and I paid the security charge via Paypal, so I was able to dispute the charge on Paypal and provide the photos and chat log with Asurion CS as evidence. Asurion never replied to the Paypal dispute and I was refunded in full.

    • Trade in via physical store if possible. Shipped trade in via Asurion can screw you over

    • +1

You know you have to buy from samsung if you trade with them? Wont you pay more buying from samsung sincd they dont appear to have any trade in bonuses atm?

I didnt have any issues with asurion though. My phone had some screen damage and said it was non working condition when completing the trade in process. Asurion assessed it and marked it as working.

  • i mean the phone is cool for people like my mum who want a light phone and a big display

its a bummer they didnt ship it with features the Ultra variant had, such as the anti reflective screen

  • Was so close getting this last weekend but ordered the Lenovo game console instead.

By the looks of it this may be $0 down and 24 month $69 Telstra deal soon.

For this price already it isnt a bad deal considering you can trade it in with a trade in bonus later on to another phone.

  • +1

Purchased one on pre order. Bad move. Battery for first two weeks was terrible used 160%+ each day. After two week battery improved greatly. The cameras were the biggest let-down. Doing a resell and purchased the s25 ultra. Now have decent cameras and don't have to carry a battery pack.

    • Yup, that's literally always the two biggest compromises when buying a non Galaxy Ultra (or iPhone Pro Max or Pixel Pro XL).

  • +3

The s10+ was perfect form factor for me. Was looking at upgrading my Mrs 23+ to the edge but after reading comments doesn't seem worth it

    • Was such a good phone!

  • I know the RRP is a joke but I think for this price, it is a very good deal.

  • Has anybody heard if they will do this phone on the $69 per month with $0 upfront cost? @HardlyNormal

    • +1

      Its on it!

  • +1

Samsung uses PWM dimming, and some people get headaches due to it at lower brightness levels!

    • I am one of them unfortunately, so I completely ditched Samsung phones and went with Motorola instead. No issue since.

  • JB hifi for $969 after using $30 off $300
