Slimline First Aid Kit $112.46 + Shipping @ Survival First Aid Kits

VIPACCESSSLIM-VIP10

Survival just released a new kit and have a few on sale before going to the public (I am on a mailing list)

I find their kits to be pretty good. I just did a remote area first aid course and the company I did it through were selling the "Survival" kits as they rated them as well. I have the family kit at home and a vehicle kit in each car. I also bought a tourniquet and a splint for the 4WD (was cheaper buying separately than their remote+snake kit and avoided too many double ups).

Here are all the codes you get if you buy things and sign up for things…

VIPACCESS code to get past the slim kit splash screen
SLIM-VIP10 should be automatically applied at checkout for the slim kit.
WELCOME10 will work for $10 off if you don't end up getting the slim one (they don't stack).
LIVESAVING will get you 75% off their physical first aid handbook: https://survivalfirstaidkits.net.au/pages/handbook-unlocked-…

Free app (good to put next to Emergency Plus app):

Free eBook (this is the link you get when you provide an email address):

Side note, if you are decking yourself out with first aid kits, consider the LifeVac for choking (separate company).

Get yourself some form of satellite comms device (EPIRB, PLB, iPhone 14 and up, sat phone etc) and you will be sorted for long trips!

You might be right, Gemini Deep Research produced this (I only gave it the contents, not the price)…

This report provides a comprehensive evaluation of a user-specified first aid kit, focusing on its estimated cost and overall value within the Australian context. The analysis indicates an estimated total cost of AUD $53.07 for the specified components, when sourced individually from various Australian retailers.

The kit demonstrates significant strengths, particularly its robust focus on trauma management and preparedness for specific Australian risks, notably snake bites, through the inclusion of a SMART Bandage and SURVIVAL Splint. These specialized items enhance the kit's utility for outdoor, hiking, or vehicle-related emergencies. While the kit excels in these areas, a comparison with general first aid guidelines reveals potential areas for supplementation, such as common pain relief medications, a resuscitation face shield, and basic accessories like tweezers or safety pins.

Overall, the kit offers good value for its specialized trauma capabilities, especially if its intended use aligns with higher-risk outdoor or vehicle scenarios. The convenience and quality assurance of pre-assembled kits from reputable suppliers should also be considered when evaluating the overall investment.

But then I told it the price and asked if it is justified…

        Is $112 Justified?
Given your specific list, particularly the inclusion of the SURVIVAL SMART Bandage and SURVIVAL Splint, a price of $112 for a kit containing all these items seems justified and potentially good value.

        Here's why:

Specific Branded Items: The "SMART Bandage" and "SURVIVAL Splint" are premium, branded items that alone can cost around $40-$45 when purchased individually.

Convenience: A pre-made kit saves you the time and effort of sourcing each item separately, which can be considerable.

Organisation: Items in a kit are usually well-organised in a dedicated bag or case.

Compared to Hybrid Approach: If you were to buy a comprehensive general kit (like the St John one at ~$80) and then add the specific SURVIVAL items (another ~$45), you would easily exceed $120-$130. Buying the full list individually would also likely creep over $100 once you factor in shipping for multiple small orders or the slight markup for buying individual units from a single store.

In conclusion, if the kit you are looking at truly contains all the items on your list, especially the specific SURVIVAL brand items, then $112 is a reasonable and likely justified price. It represents good value compared to piecing together such a specific and comprehensive kit yourself.

SMART bandage is $25 from their own site, not $40-45 and that is a bad price still. It is literally just a tension bandage with rectangles printed on it so when stretched they make squares when the tightness is right, can get much cheaper elsewhere.

I just make my own kits now, get an empty hard/soft case, order from supply stores online same exact branded stuff that is 80 cents/ea. Then can load up on stuff you use most of and know what is there. If you dont know what to add just copy one of these kits.

        I see your mistake there

Very expensive for a tiny pack.
Yes it is a slim bag, but you can buy a slim bag for $5 on aliexpress and fill it as required.

This is just a hobbyist cash grab.

If you want a genuine good deal on a general first aid kit, checkout EVERYTHINGSAFETY.COM.AU
they're run by LIVINGSTONE themselves, been using them to stock our business locations for years now.

    Specifically this one is a great deal;

Some of their kits look really impressive. I like that they've got tailored kits to meet different state standards.

I'm of the "buy a bag and fill it how you like" school as everyone has different risk exposures and, importantly, training. Some of the stuff I get involved in makes the requirement for a tourniquet a possibility and they're never included in standard kits (for understandable reasons).

I actually only buy the one I linked, it's superb. (retail application 😵‍💫)

the price for the value is actually ridiculous, cheaper than buying supplies and stocking, and the case feels great.

But yes I agree, super easy to find the "correct category" for a business application.

    • Is Livingston a big brand in first aid equipment?

      • +1

        Pretty much, yeah. Not the biggest and I've never worked with them directly - but;
All sorts of equipment and Medical supplies, procedures, courses

Australian based, good customer service too.

they don't publicly acknowledge EverythingSafety as part of their umbrella but it is evident they are linked considering their phone number is Livingstone's phone number.

  • Bit heavy for a hiking first aid kit @ 655g

  • +1

not a deal for those items. maybe the cool organisation of the bag is the selling point? probably makes up half the price…
the only special item in there is the SURVIVAL splint.

    • +1

I guess their guaranteeing the splint survives - not you 🤕

  • Overinflated prices, not a deal.
