What about it makes it "for Mac". Is it the bluetooth pairing? Anything else?

      op mentions in the post

      • It's just that the Amazon page says "remastered and optimized for Mac", but doesn't explain what that means other than the pairing.

    • The “For Mac” pretty much has no USB-A accessories.

The “PC” version has a USB-A dongle and USB-A to C cable.

Does not include the Bolt receiver. The standard version works fine with Macs.

      • Would it connect without Bluetooth to Mac if you already had a receiver?

        • Yeah. I have mine connected via Bolt receiver plugged in through my Thunderbolt dock. No issues whatsoever. I have not paired the mouse to this Mac via BT before.

    • +1

Basically yes, it is BT only and it has USB-C to USB-C cable (the assumption being that Macs are all USB-C only I guess), compared to the 'normal' graphite one has USB-C to USB-A cable and a 2.4GHz wireless dongle, and I think also can connect via BT as well.
Both will work on a Mac or a Windows machine.

As a work/office mouse, they are basically no different. If it was for gaming, then maybe the 2.4Ghz wireless is better.. or some people complain that BT is unreliable if there are many other BT devices in the vicinity (keyboard, speakers, headphones…. I personally haven't had that issue but YMMV).

      • +1

The 2.4Ghz on this isn't really better for gaming because the polling rate is limited to 125Hz on either BT or the dongle

        • This. MX Master series feels awful for gaming.

You can get it for $87 from mydeal. Using code PARTY

The MX master 4 is coming out soon a couple of design leaks on Reddit. But if you don't want to wait this is a great deal

    • +1

      not a great deal tbh

  • +4

Note that it's not Bluetooth only. It just doesn't come with the receiver. If you have an existing Bolt receiver it will work it it.

    • +1

yep, valid point - I updated post to say Bluetooth out of the box.

definitely true if you have a receiver already it will work.

White/graphite mouse internally is the same.

White gets very dirty unless you can be bothered cleaning it very regularly :)

    • +3

Yes, unfortunately. Strange thing — grey regular one for me keeps the cleanest

I use all 3 almost daily but black is the oldest (got it 6 months before others)
Cleaning doesn't really help a lot because dirt goes deep into rubber.

  • my black one less than 2 years old, the rubber against the palm already degrading….

i guess thats why people are printing replacement on makerworld

    • I think you can also get wraps/skins that help protect the high-wear areas.

  • The mouse is fantastic, but be warned that it might start double-clicking or ignoring clicks down the line.

Even with a wireless receiver, it would still only run at 125hz polling rate.

  • Any point in waiting for Prime Day deals? I just lost my Anywhere 3s.

    • +1

      Can't find it anywhere?

  • Apologies in advance if this is a stupid question.
    The specifications note the following:

Requires Logi Options+ software, available for Windows and macOS
Device basic functions will be supported without software for operating systems other than Windows and macOS

Does this mean I need to get the software installed on my work laptop to use it?

    • Not for pointing and clicking.
Yes for customisation and more advanced features like flow

      • Cheers, I was a bit confused by the "Device basic functions will be supported without software for operating systems other than Windows and macOS"

    • Many features that make this mouse great are not available without installing the software.
Unfortunate when used in enterprise environment but it is what it is.
Some IT will agree to install for ergonomics and productivity improvement but other will not allow because of "flow".
There's a corporate version of the software installer, btw, which may have better success with IT.

    • +1

I just had the exact argument with our IT..
      Cant install the options software

Gaming mice has onboard memory that you can configure on another PC but now not the master series. .

You could use xmouse software to remap some buttons but not all buttons.

  • Mx master 4 is around the corner

  • Logitech site, cost is $169.95.

  • White get dirty easily and $100 but still don't have onboard memory.
