You guys better buy it before ASICS decide to be lame and ban sales to Australia from that website.

    • or could always use a freight forwarder ;)

    • eastbay and wiggle cannot deliver asic but this guy can. what a lame.

edit: i just found out i did order ASIC from wiggle last year January 2012, but they dont deliver anymore when i try last week. funny

      • +1

        Wiggle stopped after 30th September 2012 =(

They sent out emails before hand saying last chance to order asics from them. Lets hope startfitness continues selling asics to Aus

  • My size is not available

BTW, found these great videos explaining different pronation patterns:

Underpronation (get structured shoes like Kayano):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJQvW7JVqYY

Neutral and overpronation (get neutral shoes like Nimbus):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSw-w3LtLUo
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pODcT55_7zA

    • +1

Asics suggest the Kayano's are good "for the moderate over-pronator" and the Nimbus are good "for neutral and underpronating runners".

      • +2

Yes, sorry, I mixed them up and now I can't edit my comment.
Structured shoes are for overpronation. Neutral shous for normal and underpronation.

    • +1

As sphere says - Kayano's typically for overpronators, Nimbus for neutral to mild underpronators. However, I heard the latest models are starting to be more versatile.

If you are a beginner runner, it is always recommended to have your gait professionally analysed to avoid future injuries which could appear first after a lot of miles.

  • i always notice the promotion for ASICS in ozbargain, wondering, is NIKE/ADIDAS or other brand is not popular in Australia? well, just my curiosity? or that's because Nike and ADIDAS rarely have a bargain on their shoes products?

i noticed that people always mention KAYANO on ASICS. is it really a good ASICS shoes?

i am thinking of getting a sport/running shoes, and still doing some researh on it.

anyone can comment and advise. thank you :)

    • +1

I can only say for myself, that I started to enjoy running after switching from Adidas to Asics :)

    • +1

i have always worn asics since i was a kid but i got the cheap ones back then. now i only wear the kayano 18 (i have 3 pairs), i can tell you that these are much better then the cheap asics.

i would pick up another one but they dont have my size

    • +2

From my experience (approx 25 years) I prefer ASICS shoes over both Nike and Adidas. A lot of o/seas suppliers are prevented from selling the well-known major brands to Australia. Starfitness is a reputable supplier (have bought several shoes from them). ASICS are not usually reduced as much as now, so these are a genuine bargain for those after quality sports footwear.

      • I went from Nike to Asics Kayono and will never go back. Tried Mizuno and they were good initially but quickly lost their support. Asics +++ for me; just make sure you get the right ones for your feet as stated by doperst.

    • +2

I've owned a lot of running shoes over the years, and I can say I've always found the ASICS to be more comfortable. I think unlike shoes like Nike or Adidas which seem to be primarily fashion brands now, ASICS is still very much a running shoe company. It's like buying Sony headphones, vs Sennheiser headphones.

Plus they keep their lines, so, when you buy a new pair you don't even need to think just buy the same model you had before and you know its going to fit and feel the same. I wear the GT series, and I have done so since about 2004.

Thanks OP - bought for the missus - now both of us can have kayanos in the cupboard, while we kid ourselves that we will go running regularly one day (wish we could get out more)

    • Out of the bed;)

Kayano 19's have been out for a while…

  • +1

Kayano used to be the top of the line asics shoe until it was superseded 4 years ago by the kinsei.
As a PE teacher and avid wearer of both, IMO the kinsei (which have more gel) are softer under foot and more comfy, but the kayano provides much better ankle support. I find the kayano better for jogging, but wear kinsei for day to day stuff.
For the record, kinsei are exclusive to 1 store in Australia (maybe footlocker?)
As with any shoe at this level, always buy from the uk. Don't pay the ridiculous prices we get charged here in oz.

  • is the UK size same with AU?

  • Thanks OP, purchased some Kayano's for me.

I used the sizing chart on the Kayno page to convert my 11.5 US to 10.5 UK.

go few bucks further and get kayano 19 instead? http://stores.ebay.com.au/DamnItCheap

    • cheapest on this page is $149.99 plus $19.99 postage.

This is $117 delivered, cheaper by $43.

  • I got mine from Amazon for $100 delivered http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/90321

  • Got a pair, thanks OP.
First time buying from the site, anyone know usual shipping times to metro sydney?

  • Any ladies with size UK 4 can get a pair Kayano 18's for $98 delivered here - http://www.activinstinct.com/footwear/running/ladies/asics-l…

  • Do they ship to Australian PO Boxes?

    What courier to they use?

    • not sure about PO boxes, but it'll be delivered by royal mail airmail then Australia Post.

    • Yes, can confirm shipping to Aust PO boxes.

  • Anyone have problem with payment?

I clicked on the "Safety Submit Payment" on the payment page https://securetrading.net, but have no confirmation the payment was successful - except the message Payment in progress. Nothing in the order history.

  • Thanks OP. bought a pair.

  • Do they sell Wide sizes? I can't see wide options in sizes. I have a wide foot so no good unless I can order I wider shoe.

Nevermind I see they sell wide shoes (2E) as separate shoes and not as sizes within any shoe.

  • Thanks for this.
I am size US7. I can buy the kids size 7 but when I compare it is a bit different.
If you use size 7, have you try the kids size 7? because it is half the price than men's price.
    Any comment?

    • Stick to adults. They are a different shoe and worth paying the extra if you want the best.

  • Damn, just got a pair from Macy's for over $140…. Thought the UK retailers could not deliver to Australia anymore

  • damn having wide feet really cuts down the colour choice, got the Nimbus 14 4e for $133

  • I hope the sizing chart is accurate. I just ordered a pair of US 10 (UK 9) hoping they match my existing runners.

How was everyone else sizing themselves up?

  • Can someone please tell me what the standard width of Asics shoes from Rebel Sport is? I bought a pair of Asics 2130s a few years ago, but neither the label or the box say whether they are width D or 2E. Cheers!

    • +1

going out on a limb here and saying 2E, use to work at Amart allsports a few years ago and the 21 series was 2E, Kayanos were D. Amart and Rebel would of probably had the same people purchasing for them since they were owned by the same company. good luck

      • Hey thanks DarwinBoy. You are correct, I called Rebel Sport to confirm and they said the standard Asics GT21xx in store are 2E width, and Kayanos are D width. Placed an order, can't believe how much cheaper this is than in store - delivered from the other side of the world!

  • Thanks OP,ordered a pair for every member of the family.
Also got the Scott 2012 MTB Team Carbon Cycle Shoes (Mountain Bike Shoes) for around the same price after the 55% discount then 10% NYSAVE10 discount.

Edit:These MTB shoes retail in Australia for $349 and are on special atm for $299,so getting these for around AU$100 is an even bigger bargain than the Kayano's.Thanks again !!!

  • Awesome thank you. went looking for new Asics runners last week but i couldn't bring my self to pay $230 for the ones i wanted. Waited a week and saved over $100!!! :D

My last pair of Asics lasted about 3 years and i do a lot of walking/running, Great shoes.

p.s. my size is 10.5US witch is 9.5UK.

  • Great timing new Kayano 19's on their way, saved $100 … Bonza

  • +1

Really need to stop reading this forum. Don't need another pair of Asics (got two new pairs of Kinsei's at home in a box), but now I've also got a new pair of Kayano's on the way as well. :-/

  • scored a new pair of shoes! Thanks ;)

  • Anyone that's experienced with athletic shoes, can you please advise me on what sort of shoes I can pick from here for tennis? Tennis shoes section has only 1 pair of size 7 lol. I am just a beginner who is getting some coaching soon :)

    • I don't play tennis but you should probably be looking at cross trainers.

  • If anyone has large feet size 15 and 2E feet heres a bargain

Asics Gel Nimbus 12 2E WIDE FIT Running Shoes T046N 0191

    19.95 pound

  • Just got my shoes delivered, they are awesome. But no free socks… the receipt lists them but they weren't in the package. Anyone else get them?

  • Mine are in the country, but I'm still waiting for them. Pretty disappointing when all the shoes had "free socks" plastered underneath them on their site. You'd think that it would be hard to forget to include them.

  • ^ Wow! Just as I typed that, a van pulled up outside, and it was my shoes! The socks were inside the box thankfully.

I'm not sure you missed out on much. They don't look that great IMHO

    • That's good news. I've emailed them asking about the socks so we'll see.

  • I just edited that above post. After taking a closer look at them, they look and feel a little cheap to me, but I'm no sock aficionado.

Shoes are nice. I bought a pair of these :-

    http://www.startfitness.co.uk/product.asp?strParents=&CAT_ID…

    • I was thinking they might be cheap, but free socks are free socks! :-)

  • +1

Another 10% off voucher on the catalogue that came with it - SAVE10

Nearly the same as the one in the OP.

  • I got 4 pairs of shoes, all came with socks.
Socks are great, nothing wrong with them.

  • Sorry for the late post but has anyone had any problem with the sizing. The size conversion in Start Fitness website for Asics runners is different from Asics.com.au. For eg UK3 (women shoes)is equivalent to US3.5 in Asics.com.au but in Start Fitness it is US5.

    Just a caution:

I ordered a pair of Gel Kayano's from these guys on the 21.Jan.2013 and they still have not turned up.

I have emailed them 2 or 3 times and have had no response.

Has anyone else had the same issue or an issue like this before?

    • Haven't had an issue with them before, but have never needed to contact them before. I usually buy at least one pair of shoes from them every month, and it's always been 7 or 8 days delivery time to Brisbane.

  • I got my gear in 8 days delivered, fully worth the stuff, excellent under armour gear actually, i bought 11 underarmour t-shirts for 4 people, 2 x scott cycling tops + matching pants for mum, a brooks glycerin 10 for mum all shipped for 16 something pounds.

I saved a a packet, i mean atleast 100% on all the items together compared to buying retail.

Only bought the scott stuff on sale too, rest were pretty much their normal price lol. I didnt get the free socks, but I am not complaining at all, excellent deal and store, thanks to OP and commentor's above too.
