first decent price drop on the new Creative Pebble Pro Plus. Creative Pebble X Plus 2.1.

a small on desk 2.1 system.

is it still overpriced? yes I think so. I have the Pebble Plus 2.1 USB which I got for $49 C&C ($69 normal price), it's pretty old tech though.

the new model has bigger 2.75 inch main speakers (2 inch on Plus 2.1) and 3.75x the power at 30W rms (High gain mode - Auto) with "not included" 30W+ PD charger (old one only has 8W rms), Bluetooth 5.3, USB audio, or 3.5mm (old is wired 3.5mm only) and adds RGB lighting.

does that make it worth an extra $90? you decide.
someone might buy and this deal can be some history on discount.

Still rocking my pebble V2 I got for $30

    • How much it is now? I prefer v2 than paying $150++

      • It's currently $38. But you'd probably be better off spending the extra $9 to get the V3.

        • Ah i see. Does the peebles thing has microphone? (For team zoom meeting haha)

          • @McMaferMur: I don't think any of them have built in mic.

their top models seem to have mic input 3.5mm jack though, check the Pebble Pro models.

  • Was thinking about this one for my gaming PC, but based on my research, this particular model seems to sit in some awkward category. Not good enough for music lovers, too good/big for basic gaming/media consumption, plus you need to find somewhere to put the subwoofer (under your desk?). May just get V3, which is currently on sale for $47, available in white, smaller, and good enough for casual PC use.

For music, based on reviews it seems like it would be better to spend extra to get a 2.1 system with a proper subwoofer.

  • These might have a relatively small on desk footprint but they are definitely not worth this much. You'd be far better off getting a set of edifiers on sale to get decent sound quality at a fairly low price point.

    • ^ This. Edifiers for the win.

    • 2.0 probably sounds different to 2.1 though.

these are really for on desk use though (even the sub I think, that's how most reviews show them). and also in the past pebbles have quite a short Left to Right connection, so yeah really meant for desktop PC use.

2.0 will probably have better left and right distance and wider sound.

      • Yeah I know. I have the previous version of these, several sets of edifiers and multiple other sets of speakers (including the long ago previous favourites, the Microlab Solo range). All of them used on the desk with PC. Sub or not, Edifiers or another decent pair of bookshelf speakers will blow these out of the water.

        • yeah all i know is sub woofer on it's own can sound quite different, compared to two woofers. because sub only plays bass mostly it can hit harder without messing with the other frequencies.

          • @n3ck3ntry8bort0rgasm: This barely qualifies as a sub and is low quality, i.e. muddy bass. Depends what you're willing to sacrifice, but imo bookshelves will still be better.

  • clicked the link and, the Pebble X plus completely disappeared.

    Out of stock I think.
