I got this a couple of years ago and when paired with a decent wera ratcheting screw driver is honestly my most used tool around the house.

      @PeaKay
      decent wera ratcheting screw driver

      Which one? Link please..
Edit. But this set already comes witht a driver ? Why need another separate one?

      • +5

Its way too small for most jobs. Get a full sized one and youll be building ikea shit for days.

      • +1

I got this one for $53 at the same time. It has been great and the included bits are super handy for most basic jobs, but the tool check plus from this deal adds almost every other bit, including hex, that you'll need.

How much is that ? Better bargain than this?

    • No, this is a better deal. I got the Aussie version with a pouch redemption but it’s not worth it really. Wish I knew this would go on sale

      • +1

You did get the funky yellow and green coloured bit driver, though! The pouch is pricey if bought separately, too. I was looking at purchasing the pouch but I ended up finding an AliExpress hard cover that fits it perfectly for ~$6, with space on the other side of the pouch for a set of pliers, extra Vessel precision bits, some electrical tape, etc. Footprint is just slightly larger than the Toolcheck itself.

The Wera pouches are pretty nice, though.

Just a word of caution based on my personal experience:
If you purchase one at this price, in 6 months time if there is a sale and it is at a slightly lower price, you will buy a second one "to put in the car" or some other justification.
Then, a couple of years later there will be a prime day sale and you will be sorely tempted to get a third one "for the other car".

    • You don't need good tools to be sitting in the car collecting dust "just in case". Get this $10 one from Jaycar instead.

      • Not compareable yours dont have the bits

      • +2

Of course you don't - which is exactly my point and why I wrote the cautionary tale above as a PSA for anyone thinking they will purchase just one of these……

        • yep got it you are warning people that this thing is soooo good you will want to buy again and again

  • +1

im confused the third photo on the left i dont think that is included in the set? (wrench)

    • +1

      That is confusing indeed.
I can confirm that my previously purchased sets (which look identical to the rest of the photos) do NOT include that extra wrench with the open head.

    • +1

I think that's demonstrating their "Take it easy" tool finder system; all same-sized spanners, wrenches and sockets that use the system have the same colour for quick identification. In this case, the 13mm tools have a green accent.

My rational voice is saying "you don't need this". So why is it now in my cart. LOL

    • “Buy me, you know you want to..”

      • +1

        Ordered!

Somehow got the $10 Nab card discount, even though I paid with gift card balance.

For knowledge, whats the difference between the two options available in the Amazon store?

    • +3

Wera recently updated the Tool Check line. The models in the listing are the older Tool Check Plus Metric for $99 from Amazon AU, and the updated Tool Check Plus 1 for ~$136 from Amazon Germany.

The newer Tool Check Plus 1 has some updated features compared to the Tool Check Plus Metric:

      • One side of the bit holder can now be locked into place via the green lock tab
      • Many of the driver bits are now "Take it easy" tool finder bits: they have colour-coded identifying collars on them (colour to indicate type, ie: black for pozidrive, red for phillips, etc, with a number designating the size/type)
      • Sliding lock tab on top of the Tool Check is now in Wera green, rather than the opaque plastic.

This is what I've gathered from investigating the new product release brochure and some review videos, compared to two sets of the older Metric sets I've purchased.

  • why are wera so expensive? - are they really worth it for home/ DIYers".
I'd like to know the difference between the Wera and an equivalent Bosch or Klein hand tool (for those that have either).

Ie is the quality noticable (for 2x or 3x the price?)

I can understand if you're using everyday as a tradie (ie quality because you want something good and will last as a tradesman) - but want to know other OzB's take on this…?
