Lowest historical price on Ozbargain. Unfortunately, there's no discount on the flagship Quest3. The Quest 3s is a cut-down version of the Q3, with lenses of the older Quest 2 model.

The Quest 3/3s is a good entry level option for people wanting to get into PC VR too — you don't need any cables, simply install the Steam Link app to the Quest 3's built-in storage, then wirelessly connect to your gaming PC (ethernet highly recommended for the link between your PC and WiFi 6 router) and play any game you want. (Including non-VR games in an immersive environment). And why not check out the VR killer app, Half Life Alyx while it's still on sale at 70% off. Or try your modding skills and play all the Resident Evil games in VR?

Type: 128 GB Base storage
Tech: High-definition resolution 1832x1920 pixels per eye
Design: Quest 3S is 20% slimmer than Quest 2

Review from PCMag (4,5 stars out of 5)

The Good:
Inexpensive
Fast processor
Color pass-through camera
Works standalone or tethered to PC
Many apps and games

The bad
Occasionally grainy display
Controllers must be in view of the headset for accurate tracking

Personally, for anyone wanting to get the most out of VR I'd skip this for the Quest 3. The pancake lenses make all the difference.

    • Is it 4k?

      • +2

Depends how you look at it, but no. It's 2064x2208 per eye, which is in total more pixels than a 4k panel but is not a 4k panel per eye.

        • I saw a few 8k vr with panxake lenses. Really want to buy one and long term investment

@Zeee: Have you tried one? Make sure your body can take it lol

I love my occulus to death but death comes knocking after 30mins. Nausea and headaches for the whole day after a good session

            • @krisspy: What are u watching

              • +1

                @Zeee: PrawnHub8K VR.. can't take more than 30 mins at a time…

                • @ccrap: You doing great boy. Slowly steady you'll make it

But still a great price on the Quest 3s. I picked up a Quest 2 for more than this and was super happy with it but I won't say the Fresnel lenses were without their flaws.

    • I use it mostly for video watching while in bed. Will it make a big difference in my viewing pleasure?
I guess it will be up to the quality of the video right?

      • Huge difference. I had the Oulus 2 and now use the 3. The quality difference is significant. I paid $250 for the oculus 2 and 3x for the Oculus3 and I still beleive it it is worth it.
Please try it somewhere before commiting to the Oculus 3s.

        • Thanks. I typically watch my video for under 10 minutes, twice a week, so I’ve been trying to justify the cost. This really helps.

@stephcurry: It really feels like you are there. Great if you are into eye contact… while watching your videos…

Yeah so the quality of the content and screen dictates how good the quality can get. But the lenses themselves dictate how well / clearly your eyes can see the screen.

The pancake lenses on the quest 3 make for a much larger "sweet spot" or in focus without glare spot inside the headset. You can look around with your eyes more instead of having to keep your eyes near the centre and move your head. On the quest 2/3s with Fresnel lenses the edges start to get blurry so you have to look around more with your head than your eyes. It also has less fringing and god rays thanks to clearer lenses. I think they're a big improvement.

    • i was worried i would be meh about the performance upgrade from q2 but happy to say no regrets

  • got the original quest 3 64gb and upgraded to the quest pro controllers never looked back

to be honest if you don't' go with the quest pro controllers you are missing out on a better experience you never need to worry about tracking issues ever with the quest pro controllers. they are worth every dollar.

I've sold my quest now because I didn't use it as much as I should have but man that eleven table tennis is beyond amazing! With mixed reality it feels like you're playing actual table tennis! The most realistic video game I've ever played!

Wish they sold the Xbox Quest 3S here…

Just pointing out the first line of my description.

      • +1

        Me too

        • Fair enough!
I'm curious on the Xbox edition, is it the colourway that you want? $400USD is like ~$610AUD as of today. I think for $210 you could get yourself and elite strap (or better), Xbox controler and a few months of games pass ulti. Though if they bring it to AUS I'm sure it'll be more than $210 extra.

  • Whats the avg size of games

    • About 20cm x 10 cm.

    • Average probably 2GB.

But some like Batman up to 20GB.

  • I have been looking out for a cheap Quest 3 on FB/Gumtree. Any real downsides or things to look out for other than needing a deep cleanse? It will be my first step into VR

    • +1

Make sure the controllers work, and that it charges still

  • May be Silly question, Can you even play Minecraft on VR?

    • Not officially, but there are hacks to get it running

  • New meta accounts buying a new headset should be able to stack with the OzBargain referral randomiser to get $47 game credit: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/meta.com
Can buy from any retailer, including Amazon.

Some people report success referring a new secondary account if they have an existing meta account. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/15059765/redir

There is a referral system for games but Meta made it much stricter than used to be and both users must follow each other's meta account for a link, so there's no longer an ozbargain system for that.

  • Should add,if you are wanting this as a 2nd vr device (kids or friends), you can send out your own referrral and get $47 on both your old account and the new account created. Then with the new account you can gift games back to the old account.

Also not sure if used up my voucher or if it stopped today, but you could get an additional 5% off when using Payto method

  • Whatever you do don't download Epic Roller Coaster…omg so ill after that! More than the good ole Vomitron back in the day.

Golf+ is certainly a must have for any golfer though.

  • What to do if you wear specs?
    Works / fits OK?
