I was looking to purchase the DJI Osmo 4 today and noticed that the price has dropped to $299 within the last few hours.
You can couple this with your $30 JB perks coupon & any $1 item to get this item for cheaper, might be an ATL. I chose to get a spare battery.
I've never owned a 4, but I absolutely love the 5 (Adventure Combo). I've actually been liking it more than my Pocket 3!!
It's got a newer sensor, more MP, better screen. I think the price difference is worth getting the 5 unless you're not too fussy.
I’ve been looking at both the pocket 3 and the action 4/5 and aren’t they designed for different uses? I feel like the action is more rugged and therefore great for sports, diving etc, but the camera isn’t as good as the pocket 3 - however, the pocket 3 isn’t rugged, so can’t be used for extreme sports but more for like traveling /lifestyle etc
I bought an Action Pro 5 for a travel camera as didn't want to worry about the fragility of the Pocket 3. And it does a great job with the right settings - audio is good, battery runs forever, etc. That said, the image quality on the Pocket 3 is much better plus bokeh and autofocus. But then again, I didn't have to put my camera away when it was raining or snowing - I just left it clipped to my backpack recording.
@Darkscythe: Pretty much this comment. Action can just go anywhere without a care in the world. Smash it in and out of the bag, without having to think whether you're going ruin your gimbal on the Pocket 3.
I have the 4, never tried the 5 but I ended up just saving money and getting the 4 and it’s fine for me. I don’t think the upgrades justify the price difference at the moment especially when the 4 is a lot cheaper

I definitely don't think these can hold value… I got this exact price 6 months ago.
I also own the 5 and it is a much better camera but wanted the 4 as a secondary camera. The batteries are larger on the 5 too.
The batteries are the same between the two. You just have better battery life on the 5.
they are different. pro 5 battery is 1950mAh vs 1770 on pro 4
Pro 5 also has built in storage. Pro 4 does not
I got one recently. while I was happy with the purchase, there were surprises that I wish I learnt earlier (better prepared before taking important videos)
you have to create an account on Mimo app to activate the camera, else it will be disabled after 5 uses
They said an U3 V30 card would be fine. I used a samsung evo plus U3 V30 card, and sometimes it spins for a long time to save videos, even when max resolution/frame rate were not used. if that happens, you can't even turn it off or discard the save for another video. This card never had a problem with speed before (to be fair, it was not 4k or 2.7k). After that I purchased a Sandisk extreme pro and it helped a lot
I love the mounting system. the 2 magnetic adapters in my adventure combo are really useful, allowing quick unmount and mounting to another point
Did they kill off GoPro? I still have my GoPro 5.

No doubt new camera will be much more expensive, but just a heads up if you'd prefer to wait to compare against this Action 4.

Isn't the DJI Osmo 360 supposed to be more of a competitor against the insta360 rather than the Action series?
My interpretation is (and correct me if I'm wrong):
-Dji Osmo 360 is more of a competitor to Insta360 | Not as rugged as the DJI Action and GoPro Hero series - but has the ability to record without worrying about getting the correct view, as you can stitch it in post edits, because it records with a 360 view.
-DJI Action 4/5 is more of a competitor to GoPro series | Rugged and ability to be used in more extreme sports, albeit it for a loss in video/photo quality - which nonetheless is still great
-DJI Osmo Pocket 3 - unsure the competitor to this, I assume a competitor to Gimbals which attach natively to the iPhone etc.
Obvs, a lot of these products overlap, so you could go for an Osmo 360 over Action 4/5
All correct, however, if the rumors of the new 1 inch sensor on the Osmo 360 are true, the image quality will be a massive upgrade, so much so, that if I was in a position to buy a action camera but don't need 360, the new sensor will be so good that I may as well get the new 360 camera, even if it doesn't entirely fit my needs.
Never used action 4. Action 5 has a good low light performance IMO. I use it as my dash cam mostly.
Is the extra cost of the Action 5 Pro over the Action 4 worth it?
