Great post, rep! Really appreciate the detailed and honest description. We need more of this on OzB!

As always, I like to cross-check through https://runrepeat.com/merrell-morphlite

I run Pegasus Trail 4 and 5 and I think they are worth the price premium (approx. double the price of these when on special) but these should be on your shopping list if you are not too overweight, can handle reduced toe durability and as the rep said, you run mainly on firm trails with minimal crud.

I was looking at Altra as I have wide feet and and into the big toe box barefoot shoes. Could I get away with wearing these or do I need to stick with Altra?

    • Merrells generally have a generous fit in terms of width. However, compared to Altras, which have a square toe box that allows more room to spread the toes, Merrell offer less room in the toe box area. That said, the width through the midfoot and heel is quite similar between the two brands; the main difference is in the toe box.

You want toebox? Saucony. Their 2e is wide and they even come in a 4e.

  • This Morphlite is OK for wide feet according to reviews….

  • how do I compare the sizes? I know lacoste 8 fits me perfectly with socks

    • ordered 8.5

  • anyone used these shoes, thoughts?

  • I'm used to Merrell being waterproof, but I'm guessing these are not. No gore-tex mentioned

  • Thanks, I got a pair with a $10 discount code for email signup with another pair of boots.
