  • Specs don't list any codec support info…any idea what codecs it supports?

  • Cygnett website says 8 hours battery in one spot, is it 28 or 8?
    Manual says bluetooth 4.2?
No codec support listed (as mentioned above), so assume no LDAC or Aptx?

Not a great buy, Ugreen is cheaper atm IIRC - confirmed cheaper, $27 with prime

    https://www.amazon.com.au/UGREEN-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Headp…

    Still cheaper without prime too

I have just looked at the Cygnett website and I can find 3 places where it mentions 28 or 28+ hours, so I would assume that the 8 hours mentioned in the specs at the bottom is a typo ?

The manual does mention BT 4.2, which is different to both the Cygnett & HN website's BT5 - perhaps the manual is out of date ? Realistically though please explain how it makes a difference for this application though ? BT5 gives more speed (isn't 1Mbps enough on BT4.2 for audio only ?), more range (unlikely to move more than 60m from my seat in either plane or car 🤣 ), and the device doesn't send or receive messages that I am aware of.

The UGreen unit only supports a single device (which may or may not be an issue), doesn't have a screen (which personally I think is useful), doesn't have a volume control that I can see (which I think may be useful on a plane), has a fixed cable (so if it gets bumped on a plane and pin bent, it is a throwaway), and probably like some others (that it copied) relies on a series of button presses to navigate options like pairing (instead of looking at the screen to see what is happening), it doesn't have a case (that I can see), it doesn't come with the plane adapter (perhaps worth a few dollars).

      Perhaps rethink your neg 😄

Personally I'd pay the extra $17 for the extra features and local Australia support with 2 year warranty on the Cygnett unit, but each to their own.

  • I have one of this and have been used continuously on a 11hr international flight, the battery lost the entire flight with three pairs of earphones. no issue at all.
i love it, good sound quality and very easy to connect.

    • Any idea on supported codecs?

      • i have no idea about it, mainly use it for the long distant flight as transmitter to watch the movies using ANC wireless earphones and ear buds…

    • @luce2339, all the info on the websites say that you can connect 2 sets of earbuds/headphones.
You mentioned that you connected 3 pairs of earphones. Do you know if that is the limit, or could you possibly connect even more than three at one time?

sorry for the misunderstanding… i changed three pair of ANC earphones during 11hr flgith due to battery life of earphones, but the transmitter still have half battery left… you can connect two pairs only, not three. but its very easy to connect, its instant connect for the pre-connected ones but have to remember, recommend to bring the user manual if u dont use it frenquently.

        • Thanks for clarifying, appreciate it.
And thanks for the tips - some devices are not very intuitive. Had headphones on a recent flight that hadn't been used in a while. Eventually found that holding two of the four buttons simultaneously put it into pairing mode :-)

  • If I plugged this into my car aux that only has aux but no USB would it work as a charger?
