Yes, but the price works the same way
Buy them both?
Bosch Series 14 - god mode.
Series 4, which is the thread's OP machine isn't made in Germany. Series 6 and 8 are made in Germany.
And yes, I know it isn't the main concern of the thread, it's to do with warranty and the retailer and manufacturer refusing OP's claim. But if you research about other manufacturer's it's all mixed, sometimes they accept, others they don't. Just go to ACCC or Fair trading if that's the case.
That's just a once off incident. Can happen with any brands
Damn idos for 1359? I would have jumped on that!
Bought the normal Serie 8 end of last year for $1105, and it's been superb but my only regret is not getting the i-dos (it was like $1.7k at that time?). You might say, surely you are not that lazy, it only takes a minute to pour in a few liquids! But it makes all the difference when trying to make a chore as effortless as possible, and reducing the amount of steps. That being said, if I had all options available, I probably would have gone for the normal S8 over S6 with i-dos at the same price, for the (hopefully) longer lasting quality.
We wash our clothes 3 times a week (lot of sports gear), and the way I see large appliances/expensive electronics is that if it's something I'm going to have to use a lot (eg phone, airfryer) and is a necessity for daily life, then it's worth it the extra cost to get a quality outcome every time. If it was something like blender, mixer, item I use twice a year, then meh, nah. It's also a nice feeling knowing you are washing your clothes with the best machine 😅.
$255 doesn't seem too bad once you spread out the cost over the amount of uses. Especially as it's at a pretty good price already? If the 8 lasts even one more year than the 6, I'd count that as worth it in my books.
Going off on a small tangent, but I wanted to mention the time delay function on these machines (I believe both have it, the "Finished In" button) - I've never had that before and it's been the best feature! No more needing to wake up early to put the laundry on and then having to wait, just preload everything the night before and it'll be done when you wake up, just have to hang it!
My wife uses the time delay features on our washer and dryer so they're operating during our 8c kwh AGL tariff time. She's become an OzBargainer too!
We have a lower tier serie 8 and it's been great so far - pretty much a full load every day, with more on weekends. We've only owned it for 2ish years though, so can't comment on longevity.
Some have quirks - like our model catches water inside a gap the rubber door seal. Just have to dry/clean it out every so often otherwise I imagine it could go moldy
"pretty much a full load every day, with more on weekends'
I've always wondered what people are wearing to wash every day.
Can’t comment on the differences, but I picked up the series 6 on this deal 6 months ago https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/886948. I like the idea of the idos, but have a giant container of powder to finish first. We only run it 2-3x per week and it seems to perform really well. We haven’t noticed any issues with the wash, usually only using the quick mixed in cold and it takes ~45mins or heavy duty for towels / sheets. Handily it does also tell you when you need a drum clean if you wash with cold water often. Water does seem to sit inside the seal, so we leave the door ajar most of the time and wipe it out every now and again.
Thanks all went with Bosch Series 8 :)
Same, I like.
8 greater than 6, bigger the better?
