Mine is fine; I never got disconnected in the last 4 months of use. The Google Nest Doorbell was a bit more responsive in my experience, though. But having internal storage with this, for me personally, is a bigger advantage, and I'm not paying for a monthly subscription. Definitely there are more options on the market

I had that issue with a different video doorbell. Everything is now stable once I put in a mesh network. Give that a try if you haven't already, especially if you have many devices in your home.

Brought this for $149 last week, called amazon and they said to return my item then buy this one to get the difference. So thats what Im doing… seems like a massive waste of resources instead of just refunding the difference. EDIT: got full refund from Aamzon not a $7 return label cost & just ordered it from Bunnings

good price, mine works well and I generally finz the Tapo set up indoors and outdoors I have is great value and very stable

  • How long the batt last before need recharging?

Mine was installed on 17th May this year so its coming up to 2months and its still reporting 76% battery life. My front door doesn't see all that much action though, something like 3-4 events per day. This is significantly better than my early version Ring Doorbell battery life.

Wireless connection has been fine. Connection in general is much better than my Ring Doorbell but that's partly just a home LAN vs internet dependence thing, my Tapo Hub is ethernet wired to my router sitting maybe 5meters and one wall away from the doorbell.

Biggest improvement is it reliably rings/notifies without latency. My Ring Doorbell was practically useless because of ridiculous delays, 20sec was pretty common but sometimes as bad as a few minutes.

Biggest neg is the piss weak mounting tab. It's easy to rip the doorbell off the wall, like even a small woman could do it with minimal effort. I'm pretty sure I could rip it off with one finger but I'm not going to try because each time I do it there's a chance the crappy little tab will snap apart instead of flex apart. The Ring Doorbell had a significantly stronger mounting mechanism. The latch can be opened with a fairly wide variety of thin long metal things too but that hardly matters when you can just pull the bloody thing off without unlatching it anyway.

    • Depends on the detection activity but I can get at least 2-3 months before I need to recharge it.

Better off getting one that can be hardwired. Battery is useless. Lasts barely a few weeks.

  • Bunnings has price matched if you want to pick one up.
