Great price for Club Members if you're looking for a bike carrier (holds 2) that attaches to the hitch of your tow bar. Separation of bikes helps prevent damage.
Also, if you already have the hanging type carriers, these are pretty good value adapters for the top tube….https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/yakima-yakima-tubetop/696430.html @ $29 Club Price and RRP $69.99

Any recommendations on this model? I've been on the hunt on gumtree for a 2 bikes towbar rack. I was leaning towards this particular Thule model with brake lights plus I can mount my bike rego plate.
I think this is an older model coz Yakima has a HoldUp 2 model.
A mate used one for his ebike and his kids regular bike.
He had Mondaker enduro. It was a bit long so he had to tie in the back wheel so it didnt roll out of the support at the front.
Did the job. I have the stage 2 and it's better because the bases are longer but is it 4 times better like the price suggests? Probably not.
Its fantastic. Ive owned a bunch of racks from this to vertical racks and this is an extremely well made rack, with a decent load limit.
Its so good i sold it a couple of years ago as i moved to a vertical rack… and i may buy this to use as a quick rack for when i only take myself riding.
Edited to add that I wasn't a fan of using the +2 attachment as it becomes insanely heavy which is why I moved to a vertical rack as they are much lighter.
Make sure to check tow ball weight on your car if you are buying this with the plus 2 attachment as joined together they are close to 50kg, and with 4 bikes will exceed 100kg and likely above most cars tow bow limit weights.
I recommend it.
I used this specific bike rack with the yakima light bar for a couple of years. It did a great job carrying my XL Merida eOne Sixty 700. But I wouldn't put another bike larger then that on it.This price is really good.
Plus you should be able to sell this for roughly the same price on the used market in a few years time.
Sure the rack with the wider bases would be better as it caters for a larger variety of bikes. But this rack will suit the majority of people.Fold Click - 5 stars, its great
I waited 10 weeks and trolled marketplace got a brand new Thule Velocompact for $350 from marketplace. Holds 3 bikes wired with brake light/number plate.
I’ve driven from QLD to the Snowy Mountains and back several times with this. The bike is absolutely rock solid, doesn’t move or shake, no concerns whatsoever, which is the best thing I can say - I trust it.
For some reason, the platform-type hitch carriers frequently don't have number plate holders and lights (there are exceptions I can't remember). While the towball variants do. Yakima Lightmate for another $115–$140.
Additional lights only required when lights are blocked/not visible.
In NSW, you can made your own auxiliary number plate, just use reusable cable ties to affix it to the chain stay, doesn't need complicated license plate holders. License plate light is only required at night/low light environments. So taking the bikes out on a bright sunny day doesn't need a light, unless you will be home late.

They sell home made aux number plates on eBay, people actually pay $40 for them, might as well spend $54 for the official metal ones, unless can't wait. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/145832113799
My setup (different rack but similar platform type): https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/14216/122843/bikerack.…
Yeah I got some tail lights off eBay for like $15ish, a 7pin connector, some cable, the aux plate, and I mounted it on an old metal cable tray I found - but you can do it on a piece of timber too. I just strap this to the rear-most bike with elastic (hockey) straps. I use it over 3 different bike carriers, super easy.
Are your bikes blocking the brake lights and turning lights of your car?
I stand to be corrected. This listing is the Yakima HoldUp.
The newer models are:
HoldUp 2
HoldUp Evo
HoldUp Evo 2The HoldUp and HoldUp 2 are the same. The HoldUp Evo and HoldUp Evo 2 are the same.
The 2 refers to 2" being the size of the hitch. This is not to be confused with HoldUp +2 and HoldUp Evo +2 which are extensions for the above models.

Just be mindful for what type of bike you intend to carry.
The guy in that video is just looking for things to complain about - he should wrap his bikes in bubble wrap if he doesn't want anything to touch them.
I have the same issue as shown in video, but I can lower my dropper posts to overcome.
Overall good carrier, but just an FYI is all.
This is a GREAT deal. The Yakima racks are really good. I have 2 different types of them. 1. the fold click (attached to tow ball) is awesome, but I paid $799. Its so easy to use. 2. Yakima Spareride, attaches to rear tyre on my 4wd, good as.
Good price for platform style carrier.
Better for carbon fibre frames tooWe have this. It's quite good. We carry 2x large 22kg eMTBs. It moves around a tiny bit but they haven't fallen off yet!
Are you carrying 2 ebikes at a time?
Nice. Thanks for that.
How much space is there between the clamp release and the forks? From what I understand if the forks thicker i.e. 38mm then it will actually rub against the clamp release and potentially loosen it.
Good first deal post OP.
Thanks Lucille, time to give back to this great community! Who doesn't love a great bargain?
Fat bikes?
I don’t think the wheels would fit in the wheel slots, they’re quite narrow.
Just bought one.
Need an extra registration plate.
$34 from South Australia state gov.
Anyone know of anything cheaper? In WA it's cheaper at $32.
Worth the drive ;)
Bought this, hoping Yakima sells an extender or swivel attachment to make clearance for rear spare wheel on my G-Wagon. Any other Ozbargainers with similar G-Wagon problem and solution or should I cancel my order and pay $272 towards getting my car washed instead?
G-Wagon pseudo for sh*tbox 2006 Prado, $272 saved to go to next months grocery. It was nice to flex.
You want a "Hitch Extender" like this one from Yakima (https://www.yakima.com.au/products/activity/bike/bike-hitch/…) but they're too expensive. Maybe try Amazon or Ebay for a cheaper option.
Thanks OP,

Have just picked one up as I’m keen to get into a bit of easy recreational riding. Any suggestions for cheap e-bikes, just looking at a bit of basic concrete bike track riding?
Check out Leitner brand e-bikes, based in Melbourne.
Leitner are great.
Anyone know if this would fit a Pajero at the back (with the spare wheel)?
Probably find the Pajero is a bit wide to fit on it.
Thank you good sir! for stopping me from impulse buying!
Do you mean Mitsubishi Pajero 4WD vehicle? XD
Thanks OP. Bought one this morning :)
Thanks OP! I've been putting the e-bike in a trailer. Was such a PITA. This will be much better!
FWIW check your overhang length as it seems that the police are cracking down (or using as fundraising) on the 60% past rear axle rule. Several people in various MTB groups I’m in have been fined recently.
“Rear-mounted bicycle carriers must also comply with rear overhang limits. Any rear overhang on a vehicle must not exceed 60% of the wheelbase or 3.7m, whichever is less.”
https://transport.vic.gov.au/registration-and-licensing/regi…(VIC link given but rule is Australia wide)
This is only a two-bike carrier, not four-bike carrier, I would be surprised if it overhangs so much.
Most police i have spoken to agree this rule is absurd as it effectively rules out any bike carrier on 90% of vehicles. Like it more or less means you need a huge ute to pass the rule. Because of this the ones ive been stopped by have stopped to me to check everything is secured correctly and im not excedding tow ball weight. They mention this rule but dont focus on it if you are doing the rest right.
On the Yakima product page for the HoldUp it says "The HoldUp is not compatible with BOOST forks (110mm hub). For bikes equipped with BOOST forks, our recommendation is that you look to the HoldUp EVO or StageTwo as your preferred rack"
Has anyone used it with a Boost fork successfully? Is the adjustable arm just a bit closer to the fork than ideal or does it not work entirely?
TIA
not bad for the price, especially since it can fit 2 ebikes. I won't be buying as i already have a thule bike rack that does the same thing. However you get an upvote from me because if i didn't have the thule i'd be getting this.
From the image, I thought its a home gym equipment.
