Far out I don’t need more power banks damnit

    • You need them in case the others broke

  • The 737 Power Bank is a beast: 24000mAh, 140W output (great for laptops/MacBooks), and three ports for flexibility.

In Heymix's case the chargers themselves were poorly built and didn't meet standards. With Anker the issue stems from a faulty batch of batteries supplies by a 3rd party manufacturer. In this case Amprius' China joint-venture Apex Wui.

Amprius supplies batteries to the US Army, Dept of Energy, BAE and Airbus, while Apex Wui supply Anker, Romoss, Baseus, Ugreen and Xiaomi for example.

So Anker are doing the right thing by notifying customers and issuing a recall for faulty batteries from a reputable supplier. They're not intentionally cutting corners, unlike Heymix.

⚠️ A Cautionary Tale: The Troubling Side of Anker Power Banks

Once hailed as a reliable name in portable charging, Anker’s reputation has taken a serious hit following a string of alarming product recalls. Beneath the sleek design and marketing polish lies a troubling pattern of battery faults, fire risks, and inconsistent safety protocols.

        🔥 Faults and Safety Hazards

        • Overheating and Fire Risk: Multiple models, including the PowerCore 10000 (A1263), MagGo (A1652), and Zolo series (A1681, A1689), were found to contain defective lithium-ion batteries prone to overheating, melting, and even catching fire.
        • Reported Incidents: The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission received 19 reports of fires and explosions, with some causing minor burns and over $60,000 in property damage.
        • Battery Cell Contamination: Anker admitted that some battery cells contained metal particles and insulation flaws, increasing the risk of short circuits and combustion.

        📦 Recall Details

        • Scope: Over 1.1 million units have been recalled globally, including popular models sold between 2016 and 2025.
        • Affected Models:
          • PowerCore 10000 (A1263)
          • Power Bank 10K (A1257)
          • Power Bank 20K (A1647)
          • MagGo 10K (A1652)
          • Zolo 20K (A1681, A1689)
        • Disposal Challenges: Customers were instructed not to dispose of faulty units in regular trash or recycling bins due to hazardous waste regulations, adding inconvenience and environmental concern.

        đź’¬ Customer Frustration

        • Limited Compensation: U.S. customers were offered only gift cards or replacements, while refunds were provided in China, raising questions about fairness.
        • Proof Burden: Users had to submit photos, serial numbers, and disposal confirmation to qualify for compensation—a process some found excessive and frustrating.

In short, while Anker may still offer high-performing products, these recalls reveal serious lapses in quality control and transparency. For consumers who prioritize safety and reliability, this episode serves as a stark reminder that even trusted brands can falter—and that vigilance is essential when dealing with lithium-powered devices.

        • ChatGPT reply. I'm still not wrong by saying that Heymix cut corners to save money with their dodgy chargers and don't issue recalls. While Anker don't intentionally set out to use unsafe components and actually issue recalls.

Or do you think that's incorrect?
