  • Just changed my pet filters and cleaned both of mine up!

How often do you change the Big thick White filter I think they say yearly I clean mine weekly

      • I change the big filter when the light comes on. Usually around a year.

I usually clean the mesh filter every couple of weeks, and replace the pet filter every month or so.

  • What size room does it do?

  • My friend has ulcerative colitis and I was hoping this would be good gift as she farts a lot.

I had a few questions ill ask Harvey Norman.
    1) Does this model use a granular activated carbon filter or just a coated pre-filter
    2) How many grams of activated carbon are in the filter, and what’s the expected life under typical odor load?
    3) Is this purifier effective for low molecular weight VOCs like hydrogen sulfide or methyl mercaptan?
    4) What CADR rating does this unit have for smoke or VOCs?
    5) Is the odor filter washable or disposable? How often should it be replaced in a home with persistent odors?
    6) Can this unit run continuously 24/7, and does it have a sensor for VOCs or odors to auto-adjust speed?

I made a table with the varying fart types and how she sits on the scale. I would describe her farts as Level 2 mostly but sometimes Level 4.
🫧 Level 1: Whisper Soft / Airy Barely noticeable, just warm air Mostly nitrogen, carbon dioxide Odorless or slightly musty
🥬 Level 2: Veggie Breeze Slight sulfur or eggy hint Methane, small amount of hydrogen sulfide Cooked cabbage, steamy
🧅 Level 3: Spicy/Sour Noticeably funky or tangy Acetic acid, butyric acid Oniony, vinegary, acidic
🧄 Level 4: Garlic Deathcloud Deep sulfur smell that lingers Hydrogen sulfide, methanethiol Rotten egg, sewer gas
🐟 Level 5: Rotbox Putrid, heavy, nauseating Indole, skatole Dead fish, poop, decomposing flesh
☣️ Level 6: Biohazard Clears a room instantly High concentrations of multiple VSCs Industrial, eye-watering, gag reflex

Would Harvey Norman have the model on display so my friend can test it? ….Maybe in the home theatre room where they have the projectors on display. We could play the scene of 2001: A Space Odyssey, the Stargate Sequence https://youtu.be/1DNbkKBW0K8?t=64

      1) Does this model use a granular activated carbon filter or just a coated pre-filter

It comes with a paper one, but all the after-market ones, at a 1/3rd the price use pellets in a grid.

      6) Can this unit run continuously 24/7, and does it have a sensor for VOCs or odors to auto-adjust speed?

Yes, and yes. Changes very quickly if you spray even compressed air in a can at it.

Would Harvey Norman have the model on display so my friend can test it?

      Yeah … don't think they'd allow that.

      • Thank you!

Is this any good? I live off a main street and I've noticed some air pollution and want to get rid. I bought a Xiaomi one ages ago (the only other Xiaomi thing I'd bought at the time - a RoboVac - had been excellent) but it was rubbish. My friend swears by Phillips, but that's all he knows.

I missed the boat on the 3000i, which was $277.50 in April. That's what I was thinking of getting and ChatGPT says it's better than this one.

    • Xiaomi didnt score too bad by choice and this isnt signficantly better.
      Xiaomi overall 66, dust 67, smoke 66, VOC 43.
      Winix overall 72, dust 72, smoke 71, VOC 45.

      • How does the 2000i and 3000i compare if you don’t mind?

      • I bought my Xiaomi a long time ago (at least a decade), so not sure if it's since improved. Basically, it always says pollution is low, no matter when I haven't turned it on in yonks (and I know it isn't good).

  • I have the older model of this and a 3000 trusense I prefer my winix, I’m going to get one of these to replace my trusense Thankyou!

  • .
THANKS !! been waiting for ages for $ to drop to this…..highly recommended … bought one 18 months ago for elderly friend with a sinus problem
and locked up sort of musty house smell…..the winix fixed all that…… then I thought I should get one for myself ….. being ozbargain, I just had to wait !!!

EXTRA30 didn't work for me ….. they might be targeted ……so removed the hdd from shopping basket

It only works for selected item (the one marked as $30 for $300 on it), one example was the one posted above

  • Replacement filter is about $180 lol

For a genuine one, yes, but these filters have been around for a very long time.

3rd party filter packs are a 1/3rd the price.

Most genuine filters are expensive, just like ink cartridges …

      • Are they the same specification in regards to filtration? Some non genuine ones arent

        • Well … unless someone is prepared to spend the (probably considerable) amount of cash to test, we'll never know.

It does get just as dirty though …

  • This is great for a living room but overkill for a bedroom. Consider the compact 4 stage if you need it for a bedroom.
